Ninja's in Yosemite!?

Couple of buddies and I have had some plans to take on the nose in the near future. HOWEVER the park is closed. But, being awesome young ninja dirtbags, we put on our creative katana's and think we can get to the wall.

We have some concerns! What type of authority will be in the park to spot ninja's on the wall? Is there even authority there?

If the mission does get compromised will our awesome ninja climbing gear get confiscated?? This is the big one. We understand the ninja's might get fined, booted, jailed...whatever. Would le authority have right to confiscate out sweet equipment?

Anyone other dirtbags/samurai's/ninja's going on a similar mission?

The LE's in Yosemite are some of the most hard-assed around. They've been dealing with climbers for decades and I would guess they're prepared to deal with rouge climbers. You won't be very difficult to spot on the Nose and they love to hand out big fines and arrest people. In general, they are not friendly and will throw the book at you with pleasure. Who knows, you might get lucky, but I'm guessing trying it is going to end with a shitty trip and maybe a great story. A few years back a Swedish guy I was camping with spent the night in jail for getting caught stealing Beef Jerky, that's how they roll. Also, the Park Service reads all these forums, so just posting this is very un-ninja. Good Luck though! Sometimes you just have to go for it!

This is straight from a google search:

'The National Parks Service oversees national parks and forest lands set aside for use by the public. Though these lands are specifically operated so the public has access to them, they are not open to the public at all times. Anyone who sets foot on national forest lands when they are closed to the public can be charged with trespass. The penalties for this include fines and imprisonment for up to six months.'

There are workers in the parks, they just aren't getting paid.

Yeah man, ninjas don't broadcast their missions. I guess ninja's do?

Ninjas are better than ninja's.

Asking for help or advice from climbers to climbers shouldn't be something to rag on.

Who said anything about climbing? Seemed like a ninja to ninja question.

..Except if their plan is totally ill-conceived and illegal.

The park is CLOSED. Yes, it's unfortunate. No, nobody likes it. I don't understand why people think there is some kind of grey area around "closed."

Some park rangers are considered counter-terrorism officers... they know who they are. (ninjas?)

I wouldn't test them. Find some nice, open state land to climb on.

I can't believe how immature kids are these days. They will do anything for adventure. Seem's like these 'awesome young ninja dirtbags' only care about their climbing equipment.

Listen up grog, you're trying to find adventure and that is completely unacceptable. So instead of telling you to go for it and see what happens I'm going to rag on your ass and tell you what a buffoon you are. "People can't do something themselves, they want to tell you you can't do it. You have dream? Go get it. Period."

Don't let other people who are scared, Andy Novak, tell you you can't do it. If you go, you probably will get caught. But I don't think that they can or will take your equipment. I say go for it and let me know how it goes.

Also, Keithb00ne, Federal law mandates that workers who are not getting paid cannot show up to work.

Whatever fine you get, please double that as a donation to the Access Fund to offset any douchetard ripple affects on other climbers' access.

Agreed. Especially considering how visible you will be on the Nose. Endangering access for an entire user group by flying in the face of the park authority who protects our climbing resources (and who will likely be there without a paycheck coming in) is not defensible civil disobedience that makes you a badass rebel. Is the height of selfishness and irresponsibility and makes you an asshole.

I can't tell you for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if they confiscate your gear. They confiscate BASE jumpers' gear when they're caught. They take everything: container, canopy, wingsuit, helmet, camera, stash bag, etc, etc. They then offer to sell it back to you after your case has been adjudicated.

Yosemite LEOs really hate having their "authority" challenged in even the slightest way. Getting on the Nose while the park is closed would piss them off to no end and they would bring wrath down upon like ninjas have never seen. And they know how to hold grudges; you would be a target during any future trips to Yosemite.

It's not worth it. It will open again soon; try to be patient.

Instead of being a bunch of jerks calling me a douchetard and an asshole just for asking a question, ya'll should be like 'glad you want to tackle some big stuff, here are the pros and cons' or 'consider this, if you go it will reflect on other climbers'. A couple nice responses from people wanting to teach me some stuff or trying to get me to consider things i hadn't thought of. but mostly jerk responses from some old people who lost the ability to dream and find adventure.

There are thousands of miles of adventure to be "found" outside of park boundaries. Some good recommendations above.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
