I'm slated to head to the creek for a good week or so. Before driving 8 hours with every piece of gear we can scrounge does anyone have some up to date information on the access in light of the current shutdown?
Something along the lines of "we drove in today, gates are unlocked, bathrooms are closed etc"

Thanks

I haven't been, so this is conjecture but I would assume that the Creek Pastures and maybe Supercrack parking is closed.

Camping otherwise, would be sorta impossible to enforce or even know about. There is no gate to stop traffic down the road. Likewise, the fences across the entrances to dirt roads are not lockable. I think it might disperse camping and make partner finding harder.

If it were me, I would bring a 5 gallon bucket to shit in for the week and otherwise carry on as normal. When you are done, you can mail the bucket to your nearest representative.

I hear the entire Indian Creek area is shut down. I would stay away.

My understanding is that all federal land is closed and subject to fines for trespassing. Federal law enforcement are still working, to make life miserable for everyone else.

From an email sent out by the Moab Travel Council today.

The Bureau of Land Management bike trails are open.
The Bureau of Lande Management 4x4 trails are open.
The Bureau of Land Management campgrounds are open.
There will be no maitenance of facilities. Toilet paper will not be restocked for trail head toilets or campground toilets. Advise to carry toilet paper.
Trash will not be removed. Please advise to pack it in pack it out.
It has always been prohibited to gather firewood. Bring firewood. Please removed ashes from a cold fire left before you, if it comes to that.

Much of the camping is still free so the BLM won't close what they do not administer.
All federal land is NOT closed nor is the creek. Mia's comments were made in jest, I hope. I spoke with the rec planner for the Moab BLM about our commercial permits and there are no restrictions in place on BLM land. She did make a point about bringing extra TP on trips though.

Stay away anyway!!! The climbing is horrible.....

But if you must go, please, please, please use wag-bags if no toilet is around, keep your dogs leashed up or at bay, stay on existing trails, and dont hog the classics..... lead, follow, move on.....

Personally I would find another place to climb if you are there for the classics. There are 3 different crack clinics there this weekend.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
