Government Shutdown - impacted areas

Ben Hicks wrote: I was planning on a DT trip starting this Friday. Tried calling, no answer. Their website is down and directed to nps.gov you find this: "Because of the federal government shutdown, all national parks are closed and National Park Service webpages are not operating. For more information, go to doi.gov." And doi.gov does not even load. I think we can probably assume the DT park service is on vacation, and gate is closed and locked.Guess I can redirect my trip to go march on Capital Hill then huh? |

I'm really curious what kind of money is being saved by keeping us out of public land...that oh yeah we PAY to use both in taxes and entrance fees. |

Mother fuckers!!! I am supposed to go to Yosemite next week for 7 days. |

liability for what? |

Could it still be possible to climb otto's on the Indy Monument since you never really have to pay to enter the park? Or even drive through it for that matter? |
|
The radio said they were also tagging all the monuments as closed also. But, what does that really mean in practical terms? |
|
It means Otto's is officially a 5.9- until the shutdown is solved. How could they stop you from trying other that blocking off trails? |
|
Just climbed the Smear of Fear yesterday. Now closed. SO much good ice forming there right now after the floods. Can't believe we're shut out of our public lands but we're still paying salaries to the loser congress. |

Andy go climb some desert towers. |

Looking over my map of the country it seems that the closer you are located to a douchy population(read large population) the more likely that population is to lose it's access to the out doors. |

Phew! My hubs started up the nose super early this morning! Pretty sure they have no idea about the shutdown since they have been in the valley since Sat. I would say they just got incredibly lucky :) |
|
tell him to keg it up! |

I'm going out on a limb here (because there is NOTHING TO SEE AND THERE IS REALLY NO CLIMBING IN SAN JUANS), but if you are already here and your vacation plans for the RMNP, Monument, Black and Moab got nixed, check out places like Ouray and Silverton. October is generally a slow month here, so the local businesses would appreciate some traffic. |

Looking for info about the Creek...it's BLM land so it's...fine?? Just wondering as I'm planning a quick hittin' trip on Saturday to Sunday. |
|
According to this Memo from BLM bathrooms and campgrounds will be locked. |
|
Thanks...anyone have 1st hand info, that areas pretty remote...and looks like I'm packing the kitty litter. |

I bet they'll close down Creek Pasture and Superbowl campground but I'm not sure. Still plenty of campsites to be had. |
