mens climbing capri's?

Men in Capris have a long and storied climbing history - Think Whymper and others of those era's. That was a staple. Even as late as the 90's (not sure if it continues today) European mountain troops wore them as general daily uniform. I have several pair from training with them (they made me wear them, I swear!)

Wore a pair climbing once in the Tetons upon my return. Got sick of explaining that "Yes, I am an American", and "No, thanks, I have a girlfriend - Really"....never wore 'em again. Mainly cuz they were wool. I mean really, who came up with that? If its cool enough to wear wool, you want long pants. If its hot enough for shorts, who wants 'em made of wool?

Mtn Hardware pants designed by none other than Ueli Steck a couple seasons back. Called the "Ridgetop", 3/4 length, soft shell pant, I have 3 pair, for sale $40, Large (new with tags or just new) black. Perfect summer alpine pant. Not bad as a winter pant in the right temps if you have the right boot/sock combo and move quickly. I like how a 3/4 pant clears your feet in crampons and on rock.

Soft shell knicker length pant. Call them what you will worked well in wool for several generations. Gramicci did the same in a nice weight canvas pant that was great on rock. Not sure anyone ever noticed..and no one ever commented to me in person one way or the other.

Since when did battlescars become lame? You can fight it all you want but manpris, 3/4 length pants and lycra are F'n lame so please stop trying to justify it. Scars have stood the test of time, but there's a reason why lycra, perms & hair metal bands went away with the 80's.

Get fookin real! You are bitching about what the other guy is or wants to wear.

Real men never notice that shite let alone talk about itin public let alone the Internet. For chrimney sake if they did notice the would never admit to it in public.

Real men can wear lycra and in what ever color they choose. If you are worried about it...you know you're just a poser. Put on your girlie pants now (what ever flavor they might be) and get on with it.

Over-out-done :)

I wore a few diferent pairs of them building and climbing radio towers for a few years before i decided to turn them into manpris. They've held up to all the abuse ive put them through alot better than the Millet Roc 3/4 pants that the buckle busted the 3rd time i wore them.
Not a bad idea for a really rugged pair of manpri's. I got a couple pair of Arborwear's not being used, might take the scissors to them. Question is,,,what is the 'legal' length for capri-manpri pants? Just touching knee? mid calf is 3/4 length, so is that too long? How much leg do we show guys, to still retain our manhood while wearing such clothing? This is a Must Answer question for the good of all MP climbing men out here.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
