Wanting to climb in Santa Barbara

About me...
I wouldn't consider myself a beginner climber, but I'm not an expert either.
I have a lot to learn but I can climb pretty well. I've climbed up to a 5 10b (but that was in Thailand, so ratings might be different).
I just recently moved to Santa Barbara and would love to go climbing around here.
I have a harness and a belay device but no rope. I can belay a lead climber and clean gear, but have not yet lead a route. I would love to learn to lead climb and anchoring as well.
If there is anyone in this area that would be willing to take me climbing with them, I would be really happy.

Hey Suzi,

Have you checked out the gym in SB? It may be a good place to meet people or post up that you're looking to climb: sbrockgym.com/

There's a good number of climbs and climbers in the area. Good luck with your search!

Try the SB gym, Ventura gym (Vertical Heaven), Southern California forum on here, or the Partner Finder on here. I live in Ventura and have a bunch of SB climber friends. I tend to climb in the Ojai/Sespe and Santa Monica mountain areas for local climbing. There's a lot of climbing in the SB/Ventura area, but much better climbing within a 3-4 hour radius...

Suzi Z .... Lots of good climbing and bouldering in SB.

If your solo and want to climb I recomend you go to Malibu Creek State Park... it is a bit of a drive.

Go to the Planet of the Apes Wall ... its top rope only and most of the regulars that climb there will let you hop on a route.

I recomend you sort of watch and make sure good belay skills are being practiced before asking "for a ride".

Good luck finding good partners.

You might like to go to Stoney Point... tons of climbers there and its easy to meet motivated climbers.... many of the regulars there live in Ventura, Oxnard and SB.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
