Trying to make the move out to west from AL. I'm 25 and just finished paramedic school a few weeks ago. Right now I'm living back home and hittin it hard with the job search for the last month without too much luck.

Do any of you working as EMTs or medics work for places that are hiring new medics?

Btw, I have my National Registry Paramedic, BLS, ACLS, and PALS. My next plan of action is to apply for my Utah state Cert.

Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

I'm an EMT trying to get into PA school, and the market out here is pretty saturated with medics/emt's. I ended up working as a MA to get my patient care hours.
Anyway, Gold Cross is the big ambulance company out in SLC that doesn't require a fire cert to be hired. I attempted to get on with them but they claimed they had 200 applicants for one job. All the local city authority ambulance services require a fire cert with it and they are competitive. As great as Utah is for outdoor activities, I wouldn't say the market is a great one for medics. St george has a service but I never could get ahold of anyone down there. Most of the smaller cities have either volunteer or fire services as their medics.
Lots of medics in SLC work out in Wendover NV which is 2 hours west as they seem to need people.

Mt West ambulance in Tooele seems to need good paramedics, you do need Utah cert though. The market is flooded with paramedics as was mentioned above, good luck.

Above info is accurate, although it is possible to get on with gold cross, they just do alot of bluffing. Just be persistent, and know people... maybe a ride along would help? I'm a medic with a local FD, PM me if you need anything.

I am currently putting UT on hold as it looks like its going to take $300 to get my medic license there...kinda lame. thanks for the info though! If the other states I'm looking at dont pan out I'll give UT a solid go.

I am pursuing paramedic refresher course and aspire to become an expert in paramedics. Wish to complete the advanced courses in paramedics.
