Anyone else on mp heading to Yosemite for the AAC climbers meetup?
|
I am really excited about the week in Yosemite. I've climbed there before...long time ago. Really psyched to do some new great climbs with host and participant. Never done Snake Dike, Royal Arches and would love to do them...East Butt absolutely on the hit list. Thanks for all the great info. Will bring full set of doubles and full set of offsets. See you there. To David, Steck-Salathe would cover all your earthly desires, I can remember spending a long night on top of it many Octobers ago with Ziggy from Toronto. |

Come to the meet next year and we will get some local to take you up Wyoming Sheep Ranch and Freerider in a day! |

Hey Guys, |

My hit list: |
|
Nice list! I've done Nutcracker and Goodrich Pinnacle, both great. The others are all in the difficulty range I've been looking at. Maybe a host climber will be able to help us with the route finding on some of the more complicated approaches/descents. |

Can anyone comment on Munginella and Selaginella? |
|
Kurtz wrote:Can anyone comment on Munginella and Selaginella?Munginella is a good line for the grade. However, I thought Commitment was a better overall climb. Make sure you always wear a helmet at this area, seems like it rains choss and dirt clumps. mountainproject.com/v/commi… |

David Gibbs wrote: For some strange reason, I tend to like off-width climbing. And squeeze-chimney. My (climbing) friends think I'm sick in the head. Then again, I also like slab climbing. Maybe I'm really sick. :)Hello everyone! Really excited about the trip and look forward to meeting everyone. Check out Trail by Fire, the Generator Crack, Ahab, and the Steck Salathe! |

Anyone know "Monday Morning Slab, Harry Daley Route "? The comments are very positive. It's not very long. Can it be done the same day as The Grack? |

Kurtz wrote:Anyone know "Monday Morning Slab, Harry Daley Route "? The comments are very positive. It's not very long. Can it be done the same day as The Grack?Yes, they can both be done easily in the same day. Edit: The two climbs are about a fifteen-minute walk apart. |

Is anyone bringing a slack line? |
|
Kurtz, |
|
Hey everyone! I am so pumped to be joining! Id love to get on some long routes; Snake Dike, Royal Arches, and Arrowhead Arete all look like awesome options. But I guess they aren't really that long compared to others in the Valley, but for a Rumney/Gunks climber looking for something bigger they look like they will be amazing! |

Kurtz wrote:Anyone know "Monday Morning Slab, Harry Daley Route "? The comments are very positive. It's not very long. Can it be done the same day as The Grack? Also include Chouinard Crack. A great line that starts off the same big ledge, just left of Harry Daley. mountainproject.com/v/monda… |

Cor wrote:Kurtz, I don't think so, but if you or anyone has one, and has room in baggage... Yes, bring it! Could be a fun evening activity around camp, while sipping some (fill in blank)Will bring the slackline if I can fit it in. (Disclaimer: I never meant to imply that I can actually stay on the thing more than 10 seconds) Now, onto more pressing logistical issues... - How does one best acquire appropriate beverages and keep them cold? - Showers are a 10 min. drive. Are coins, towels, or whatever required? - Is drinking water available at the camp site? - Any other useful gear or comestibles that one should consider (camp chair, tarp, ukulele...?) |

Finally decided to click on this link... some comments... focoderek wrote:My hit list: Arrowhead Spire/Arete Braille Book on Higher Cathedral After 6 or Nutcracker on MPB S. Face of N. Dome Dream Easy on Reed's Overhang Bypass on Lower Cathedral The Grack or Goodrich Pinnacle on GPA Commitment or Caverns on 5 Open BooksBraille Book - since its kind of short, link it up with Higher Cathedral Spire RR? Or if you climb fast enough, I've had this dream of linking E Butt Middle Cathedral to Braille Book or Higher Cathedral. |

Kurtz wrote:Can anyone comment on Munginella and Selaginella?I think Munginella kind of sucks... I would go with Commitment to Selaginella. |

Kurtz wrote:Anyone know "Monday Morning Slab, Harry Daley Route "? The comments are very positive. It's not very long. Can it be done the same day as The Grack? You could probably link 5-6 routes on GPA in a day. Harry Daly was pretty cool. TCU's or offsets would be gold here, but not necessary as I didn't need them. |

Alicia Sokolowski wrote:Hey Cor, Is Arrowhead Arete a reasonable, moderate long-day climb? The pictures of the ridge near the summit look amazing.I'm not Cor, but unless you are a strong hiker I would say its a full day. Finding where the climbers trail starts is a bit tricky, its just around a bend off the hikers trail that goes steeply uphill. I used a GPS... o/w I probably would have never found it. I think the best idea is to do Arrowhead Spire, then linkup to Arrowhead Arete. |
