solo TR
|
Stupid question but wanted to start doing solo TR and thinking that on a lot of routes rope abrasion is a concern. Because of this (and for conventional TR) looking to buy a static rope, however it's unclear which static ropes are good for this application? I'm probably missing something, any guidance would be appreciated. Specifically would this rope 'work?' |

I just extend my anchors and protect the edge if im worried about abraision (i use my dynamic rope). Also, I use the microtraxion, and I think the 10.5 might not run as smoothly in it. you probably dont need to go out and buy another rope just to solo. |

ANY staic rope would be sufficient for your aplication, just extend it over the edge and protect it. Instead of buying a 50-60m static, try to buy off of a spool like in the pic. I use a static for the anchor and dynamic to climb, never had a problem. |

Anything will work really. |

Unclear whether OP is asking about anchor rope or climbing rope. Always better to select static where anchor is concerned, but I believe he was asking about the climbing end. |

You dont need static .... Use an older rope |

Bearbreeder - Are you actually agreeing with me?? now I gotta rethink my position :b |

I use a 10.5 Edelwiess Canyoneering rope for TR solo with microtraxion. Works great and runs smoothly. I prefer static line. You can get off-cuts of good static line on fleabay pretty reasonably. |
