did you teach them to say: "what a fvcking douche"?

or "hey poser fvcktard, whens the next 20% sale at REI?"

I have a 4 year old and a 5 month old, who both make it out to the crag from time to time (along with my 50lb heeler and my head net). Infact my son helps us clean up plenty of tape, butts, wrappers, etc. left behind by climbers. Many of which would probably rather we leave him at home.
Does his presence make the crag better or worse, I'd say its an even trade. Does the area benefit from him taking more trash than he leaves? I'd say yes.
Curse, scream, throw a tantrum, all you want. It's my job to teach my kids how to behave in public. Just don't be offended if I use your behavior as an example of how not to act.
Everyone should stop worrying about other people's kids, dogs, bail/booty gear, "bee hoods", how long someone waits for a fucking resole, etc.

Of course kids are welcome at the crag. And as with all domesticated animals, they should be under their keeper's control.

by the time they are adults, will these even still be cuss words? when i was a kid, if you said something 'sucked' you would get your mouth washed out. nowadays, old ladies are going out to see the vagina monologues and dropping the C word and giggling afterwards.

they are just words. nothing more.

Bring the kids, but keep them from underneath routes where people are climbing..Keeping them safe before protecting their sensabilities is paramount. Cussing climbers have been around as long as the sport has..Who knows, your kids may look forward to hearing it when they get to go out on the weekends!

I don't really see how the crag is different than any other public place. If you swear a couple of times in frustration that's fine I do it too. However, if you are swearing like crazy with my kids right there I'm definitely going to say something.

I find these threads very amusing. Comments like David's are truly entertaining. Those that defend swearing around kids will not be convinced otherwise, but it's fun to watch people try!
