Too hot for the North Chimney?

Forecast says 90's for this weekend August 17th. I'm assuming the "North" Chimney will be in the shade. Am I nuts for wanting to do this at this time of year?

No, you'll be fine. North Chimney is shaded and often windy. Start the hike early to beat the heat up to the base of Castleton, and you'll have a great time. The hike out will be hot, but it's all downhill and only about 45 minutes.

Actually, the north chimney faces northeast, so if you start too early you'll be in the sun in the first pitch. If you can move at a normal speed, do it at dusk and rap/walk out in the dark.

Yeah it's too hot. The climb is fine but the hike out is brutal.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
