Hey I'll be living in Durango this coming fall, trying to find some awesome spots to climb down there. I just do mostly sport climbing so where are like the best places for a sport climber in and near Durango?

You'll definitely like lemon and if you like pumpy limestone, Golf Wall and Cascade Canyon are the way to go

We are heading to Cascade Canyon tomorrow and is there any good camping near there?

I just moved to Durango and am looking for partners/areas too. I climbed x rock the other day, not bad sandstone I'll say but there's gotta be granite or gneiss like I'm used to. Any suggestions?

Thanks Lucas for the beta! The photos make this place worth stopping for a visit.

Lemon has rock similar to granite. The Silverton area has a few nice gneiss crags. Ophir wall is the closest thing to big granite you'll get in the area as far as cragging goes.

If you're looking for 5.9 and under then the stripe in Silverton and cracked canyon in Ophir are your main options. Not much good moderate climbing around durango...

Someone mentioned Piedra canyon, where is that?

climbing at piedra is off piedra rd. in pagosa. just drive until you hit the river. like everyone else said, best sport in durango is lemon, golf wall, and cascade. all have something different to offer.
