Some of the bouldering that can be found here is on public land immediately off the highway; however, the majority of the problems and the routes lie on private land, as does the majority of the rock in the area.
Description
If you've explored the Davis Mountains region of West Texas, you've seen plenty of rock. As a climber, this is one of the most frustrating regions in the South, especially for a state the size of Texas, due to the general absence of publicly owned land. Point of Rocks, being at least partially accessible, is a site for sore eyes after driving through an area filled with potential.
To truly sample Point of Rocks, one must cross several fallen fences.
Approach:
Approach is a little rough to the south-east face. best found route is to scramble from left side of parking lot, checking to make sure that not to climb to high before crossing low slope face. Otherwise you would need to rappel into the base of the face.
