Left my rack of trad draws on the ground at the base of High E. It wasn't with my stuff when we returned. Could someone have picked them up by mistake?

You might want to check Gunks.com; they have a lost and found thread on the website. Good luck getting your draws back!

I don't think someone accidentally picks up a rack of draws. The recent graffiti attacks in the Near Trapps and now in the Trapps mean that it is more likely than usual that there are unsavory people around. And some of the recent climber's trail improvements make it more likely that people who are not climbers will find their way from the carriage road to the base of the cliffs. (I've seen walkers up there asking directions to Lake Mohonk and wondering where they got off-route!)

At the very least, it isn't a great idea to leave gear out. Nowadays I put everything in my pack before I start up a route. Of course, someone can just take the whole pack; I haven't heard of this happening yet but sooner or later it will. The day may come when we all have to use something like this,

which will work until the bad guys come equipped with bolt cutters.

I agree with this 100% because as we all KNOW, theft didn't occur in this fine country of ours, until Obama became President.

Andrew C.....sorry to hear about your missing trad draws. I passed under High E yesterday afternoon, around 4pm, and saw no draws laying about. I did find a single Helium carabiner, south of there, that looks to have been dropped. RichG....I like the pack net, but wonder where you get the steel post to secure it to? Tyler....we're in dire economic straits, but I think it's too pacimistic to claim that everyone steals gear. If I find it I'll return it or leave it at the nearest ranger station, office, or climbing shop.
Locker.....I knew you were still looking after the "lost" items on Mountain Project and this wouldn't escape your gaze, no matter how distant it was from you. Keep up the good work.

Man that is awful. I really hope it was an accident and they get returned to you soon. While I do tend to put my gear in my pack I've always felt very safe leaving it at the base of the cliffs in the Gunks and hope that doesn't change...

The holes in the pack net need to be smaller so the thief can't fish out gear! I imagine a tree would work just fine for anchoring.

Well, outside they're called trees..... ;)

Usually carry everything with me. But, if I'm concerned about leaving stuff at the base of the Trapps I stuff it in one of the many "caves" under some boulders. My pack is black. I bet people look right at it without seeing it.

Andrew, didn't see any trad draws but someone left a shoe at the Uberfall kiosk yesterday.

I feel like that net is pretty much completely useless. It doesn't stop you from opening zipper or cutting open the bag and taking out small items.

nice concept though!

Sorry about the draws man!
