I bought a pair of Anasazi Arrowheads recently, but they're killing me! They hurt wayyyy too much. I tried on a size 11 in store and a thought a half size up would do the trick, but my feet just hurt so terribly when climbing in these. I wear a size 12.5 street shoe and the Arrowheads I have are size 11.5. I did a little research and someone said they tried them on at a demo, but when they ordered online, they were significantly smaller. I'm kind of worried about that. I'm going to order another pair, but I'm skeptical on the size I should get. Should I get a 12 and hope the half size up from my current shoe stops the unbearable pain, or go straight to my street size? Great shoe, though. I've climbed in them a couple times despite the crazy toe cramping and they preformed great.

Go and try/get the size that doesn't hurt.

If you can try em on in a brick and mortar shop you should buy em there and ensure fit. I bought mine true to street shoe size and they are comfy/I could stand to downsize a half size is I really wanted to.

I would buy them in a building if I could, however the only store in my area that sells the arrowhead is my gym and the largest size they stock at is 11

Same thing happened to me even at my street size. Returned them and got something a little less radical

i have run demos of these shoes a bunch and most folks enjoy a secure powerful fit at street or perhaps 1/2 size down at most. I wear a size 12 street shoe, and 11/11.5 anasazi, and 11.5/12 in the arrowheads. 12 in the Quantum and other UFO family ( dragons, teams, etc).

with most lined synthetic upper shoes, they will not stretch much at all unless you are really pushing on the material with a foot too large for the shoe...IMO not necessary as the upper holds the toes secure, the rands keep you on the power point, and the slingshot tension in the back off the heel keeps everything snug up front. also these have stiff Onyxx rubber on the outsole so expect edging power on steep terrain and lots of durability.

hope you find a great fitting pair as you will like these shoes a bunch when dialed in.

I usually wear the same size as my street shoes for 5.10s, even in the more agressive styles. I have a pair of the Anazazis and I think they're a half size below my street shoes. I definitely wouldn't go any smaller than that.

I've got a pair of Arrowheads that I love, mine are street size. I'd agree that FiveTens run much more true to size, in fact I just got a pair of blackwings that I had to actually go UP a size. A far cry from from going down 2.5 - 3 sizes for Sportivas.

yes. many folks will find a great and plenty powerful and secure fit in the most aggressive styles from 5.10 1/2 to 1 size up from street shoe.

The shape, tension of the rands, and non-stretching uppers really hold the foot where it needs to be for tech foot moves without relying on crumpled toes that need to "break-in" stretchable uppers to eventually find a good fit.

Cowdura, a lined synthetic upper will soften up around your foot, but not stretch out and get longer/wider unless you are slamming a foot in a too small shoe. not necessary unless maybe your feet only work while bound beyond any ability to function...just mangled meat chunks, painfully overstuffed to create a platform to stand on....no thanks. i'll keep my feet strong and able to work with the shoe to grab holds, press onto edges, spread out on slabs, and twist into cracks.

Leather, especially unlined, will stretch and after the break in period allow for a very specific fit to your unique foot shape..."glove like", and much more supple feeling as well as better breathability. add a lining to leather and you reduce stretching considerably.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
