Has anyone climbed here or has any information about climbing here?

It looks like an amazing place.

maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=e…

Or just any information about the area in general?

bump.

Are there any English speaking Canadian climbing forums with this info?

I haven't found any.

That's the meteor crater in Quebec -- it does look interesting.

Sadly, I don't know of any English-language forums or information about that area. I haven't even been able to find anything in French.

As far as I know, this is all that's out there: qc.drtopo.com/north-america…

And it's not just an English speaking thing... I haven't found much information out there in French. There are a few threads on the Escalade Quebec forum about climbing on the Cote-Nord, but nothing really that definitive.

Which is a shame since there is an astounding amount of really appealing granite in the Laurentians... entire Cathedral- or Poko-sized cliffs sit in total obscurity. I'm sure a lot of those have been climbed, but there really aren't any resources out there.

I actually drove through Baie Comeau last week, and I was really surprised at the amount of rock available just a few minutes east along Route 138. Good looking granite, a bit dirty but otherwise sound with some really appealing cracks and slabs, ranging in height from 30' to 300'. The area between Les Escoumins and Tadoussac has an incredible valley that would put North Conway to shame. You're best bet is probably to try and contact some local climbers (there are probably a few)... the local Parcs Quebec folks would probably be of some assistance, though they're usually pretty mum on sports other than hiking and XC skiing. A lot of them speak some English.

And this doesn't even get into the huge walls sitting up by the Moisie River... major kudos to the first person to throw a rack and rope in their canoe! Unfortunately a lot of that is 8-10 hours from the US, but someday...

Thanks for the info, a road trip may be in order. Any idea what services are available? Fuel, food etc?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
