Just carry the extra weight, it's not THAT hard of a hike to get up there. Especially if you're going with a partner. |

We have both worked hard all our lives and been smart with our money and if we want to help out some young dirt bags with some extra cash and let them in on our permits thats up to us. Jesus just get over yourselves! Oh yeah, and Jason. I onsight soloed your whole to do list so just blow me.My new favorite post ever. |

I thought we established that the internet tough guy approach gets you nowhere and just makes you look like a crotchety old has-been. |

It's a pretty lame request, without any background info. You are in the wrong here, best way out is to accept that and apologize, not blame them for not giving you a background report for you to approve of. People can hire porters if they want. |

Meh, I call 'em as I see 'em. It's a lame request, 9 times out of 10, and I responded as such. |

A lame request 9 out of 10 times? When I was living in Tuolumne Steve Scheider tried to recruit my roommate and I to porter gear for his crew's foray in the High Sierra. And, in the Valley, it's common for people to pay other climbers (or exchange goods ;) to hump loads up and down the east ledges or place caches for them. There are many situations in which its a part of good strategy and convenience to do so. Just because you may not need such services or perhaps can't afford them, doesn't necessitate hating on others for doing so. She was just reaching out to the MP community for a little help (paid at that!). |

No, no one is obligated to provide background info, but it definitely helps reduce the number of smart-ass responses. I would have apologized to Diane had her partner not solicited me for a blow job. That tends to leave a bad taste in my mouth. But I'm a lowly 5.8 trad climber, what the hell do I know?numerous people are calling you out - take it as a sign that you were out of line. The noble thing to do is own up to it (not explain yourself), apologize, and be nicer next time. it's up to you. |

It's good that people are hiking into wilderness to climb with bum knees. It's good that dme feels OK about asking for help lugging gear, and that at least one other person on this forum is happy to step up (though I hope there's some vetting process so that a random woman doesn't end up hiking alone into the wilderness with a random man she dug up in a discussion thread, however cool and outdoorsy that thread may be). |
