Bolt the world
|
Better yet, pay someone else to bolt it for you. |

The Hillary Step is going to become a 3 lane fixture soon. One permanent ladder bolted in place for going up, a middle double fixed rope lane for those who care to challenge themselves, and the third full time rappel station with several new fixed ropes placed every couple seasons in place for teams to descend en'mass. No sense in making it any harder than it has to be, since the goal is to take in huge fees and ship hundreds of clients up the hill each and every day of May summit season. |

I've never really been anywhere near Everest, so I don't know if my opinion is really worth anything. But the huge numbers on the mountain aren't going to stop or slow down any time soon, so if this manages to make it all a little safer I think it's probably a good idea. |

Why don't they just take rich westerners up in palanquins and get it over with. |
|
When I saw the title, I thought this was going to be a post about Tensleep. Disappointed.... |
|
Yeah, this is the Nepal version of over-bolting wars and abuse around the world. |
|
Everest is for chumps... |
|
So we're talking via ferrata... I'm not into the cold, I'm waiting til there's a hut on top before I pony up. |

"3 Fixe Hardware Stainless Steel ⅜ inch Bolts with IMG's Bosch 36v hammer drill" |

Trundle that F-ing ladder and be done with it. |

At that altitude most are probably not coherent enough to set their rap or will forgot their rap device. |

Some expeditions set thousands of feet of fixed rope...I can't imagine all that work. Alpine fast ascents are my kind of fun. |

rging...the ladder is on the Tibet side, not the Hillary step |
