Happened early this morning. Says between mile markers 5-8? I hope 5 mile boulders didn't get washed out!

Unfortunately the report didn't include any real information of interest. How big was it? between miles 5-8 is a pretty big area. Was it really THAT big or was it just a few boulders that made it all the way down and will be cleared in about an hour? We need mroe actual details.

I got turned around at 7AM by the cops blocking the road. They wouldn't even let me in the park and ride. They were turning bikers around and had closed the quarry trail parking but runners could apparently head up that way. Cop said the main slide was about 2 miles up which puts it above the gate and probably above the powerplant. He didn't seem to know much other than they were hoping to get the road fixed within 8 hours. He made it sound a lot worse than KSL does. When I turned around an oversize load truck was coming up to the mouth with a large backhoe.
There was a lot of debris on the road in BCC too and both creeks were running chocolate brown.

Edit: pics are up on KSL, impressive.

Got a text update from UDOT: opening is at least 3pm if not later. This must be big

Much of it was around Tanners Flat:

That would put it at the drainage around Lisa Falls, if I have my bearings correct.

Looks like Tanners and Lisa Falls had the most carnage, but there was evidence of plenty others.

I drove up the canyon yesterday (raced in the Utah State Mountain Bike Championship). The majority seemed to be "smaller" stuff but there was lots of it along the road. You could see the mud left from the slides. Lisa Falls trail seemed to be totally wiped out (from the road).
Didn't see anything that would get boulderers excited about new potential ;)
With the big downpours we have gotten, there is certain to be these slides. Maybe more to come...

We were up at Purple wall on Wednesday evening and it was hammered.

Mad Swiller
The Wine Drip
Pump It Until Purple
North Wall:
Purple Pumper
Purple Gurpel

All had rocks and boulders to the first clip and grit and dirt up to the second or even third clip. Shame these routes were already short enough to loss 6 ft of climbing is substantial.

The base of Lisa falls has changed dramatically, and risen several feet. The only route that appeared to be damaged was Sweep Left. All hangers are flattened and the first bolt is less than waist high.....

The climbs right of the falls seems unscathed.

A few changes went down in Tanners.

Looking downhill

The 10' boulder at the base of Minions of Chaos.

Well, I guess it was 10'.

It wore away some of the nice shelf at the belay for SPF 50

And down to the bedrock along the base of the Booty Wall.

It doesn't look like the climbs were touched at all - just a little longer now. Maybe you kinda need a piece of gear to get to the first bolt. Not too big of a deal and we should all try and clean them up as we go. You still gotta love a place where you have to wear a fleece on a July morning. The hike is scramblier but more evened out. The raspberries, wildflowers and wild mint are going to take a couple of years to come back.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
