To correct someone's grammar is one thing, but to attack someone's appearance is degrading and immature.

Degrading? Of course it is... Thanks for pointing out the obvious. Maybe try to use a better adjective next time.

Just a quick glimpse at your comment history reveals that you are the troll, and a grammar nazi, and apparently a deputy in the safety police as well. Do you get off to perusing photos on mp, then commenting on them in nitpicky, asshole ways whilst furiously masturbating with the tears of your infinite loneliness?

No offense. Just curious.

Hello?
Anybody else in this room see how ironic it is that the one person that probably spurred the OP's need to post, has now hijacked this thread?

just sayin...

Actually, I was just jumping on the troll train, but thank you. I've always wanted to be a cowboy.

PRRose: "Plethora" would have been a better choice than "surfeit." Although both are often defined as "excess," surfeit is generally taken to mean too much of a good thing--a surfeit of good food or drink, for example. "Plethora," on the other hand, is the more apt choice when complaining about too much of a bad thing.

True

PRRose: Also, not to nitpick too much, but a list should be parallel as to number. "Misspellings" and "punctuation errors" are plural, whereas "poor syntax" is not.

Not true

PRRose: In addition, "surfeit" and "populate" don't agree, which they should.

True

All this punctuation thing you people are talking about totally has no relations to the climbing discussions. I am sure there are many sites about grammar and English language you can debate on. There are also many modeling sites on the webs. U all can find one for yer tastes.

Gentlemen... I've spent hours studying the markings quoted in my post. It seems we've angered it. I give you.... ENGLISH!!!!!!!!!!!

BSheriden wrote:Again, who cares? Its an internet forum NOT a college level English thesis paper. Find something better to get upset about. As long as you can understand what the person is saying who cares about a few misspellings?
Bullshit. This forum has many discussions where life-saving (or life-threatening) knowledge is passed from stranger to stranger. Should you trust a stranger who doesn't know the difference between "led" (past tense of the verb, lead) and "lead" (the heavy metal)?

No, no more than you'd trust a surgeon who didn't know the difference between the fibula and the ulna.

Climbing requires a constant attention to details. Details which, unattended, will kill you. EVERY knot, harness buckle, piece of pro, etc. MUST be correct if you're going to survive very long in this sport. If you can't bother to double-check your post for spelling, how can I trust you to double-check my knot?

A spelling or grammar mistake here or there is understandable and excusable, but someone with constant, frequent misspellings, unintentional malapropisms, missing words (eg. "not") and grammatical debacles is someone I don't trust, and neither should anyone else.

And I don't care if you can type "u r my BFF" with your thumbs.

Ummm huge difference buddy. Not checking a harness/knot can result in someones death, not useing the correct form of "there, their, they're" effects no one except uptight people like you. Try not to lose sleep over it :)

You really think the amount of time someone takes to spell check an internet post has ANY bearing on how safe of a climber they are? I would be afraid to climb with you if you are going to base how safe a partner is based on if they know the past tense of lead. Seriously!?!? lolz...
