Hey folks, I am moving there this summer for an internship. Just wonder if can I tag along with some of you living close to C'ville whenever you guys are heading out the crags.

Feel free to reply here or shoot me a PM

Bang, that sounds good, it'd be great to get out. I'm out of town the next 2 weekends but will be around after that. Send me an email when you get a chance and we can exchange contact info, my name is Tom: tnelson0083@gmail.com.

Jake, thanks for the advice. I've been up there once so far and went to the PATC wall. Bushwacking wasn't too bad, but from what I hear it gets a lot worse. I bought Horst's new guidebook that just came out and he seems to do a good job describing approaches and routes, so hopefully that will make things easier on a newcomer like myself. Let me know when you're healed, it'd be great to get some insider info and get out climbing together!

Sorry for the thread drift everybody but I'm curious about the cost of a rescue. I know your buddy busted his leg up pretty bad on or near dobie gillis right Jake? Did the authorities make him pay for the rescue? What was the rationale? I know there are a lot of "rescues" out on Old Rag every year with the majority of them involving what I would characterize as out of shape hikers who get themselves in over their heads and then have to be "rescued." Seems to me a break like the kind your friend had left you little option in terms of a self rescue. Do the authorities charge everybody or was your friend unfairly singled out Jake? Again sorry for the thread drift but its certainly something I'll consider next time I'm not sure I can make "the move" but the gear looks good.

That explains it in clear terms Jake. It *sounds* silly to need the AAC evac insurance for Old Rag or Seneca but I'm thinking its making more and more sense.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
