If I was a filmmaker, premiering a film in a college town, I would definitely avoid the time of year that nobody is around... Especially since one possible premiere location is on the UW campus.
I may have misread an earlier post somewhere or an email. I thought it was summer. Do hope the idea of a Ringling Theater showing in 'BooTown is a possibility. AND a showing down in Chicago suburban area too I trust, not just Minneapolis and Madison areas.

Is there a way to buy this if you missed the kickstarter?

Just watched El Cap last night,,,,love the sound of 'ping, 'ding' ringing of the pitons and bongs in the early morning light. Fabulous interview section after the main film. Was a very well done redo and release of this classic film. Hope many more climbers will get to see it soon.

Here's a recent post from Fred Padula:

=============================

To all my patient Kickstarter supporters:

Here’s the latest . . .
A couple of folks are helping send out all the awards, but none of us have experience with massive mailings. We’re working hard to get everything sent out as quickly as possible.

All of your addresses and requests have been exported from kickstarter into Excel spread sheets and a few glitches have slowed us down a bit. There are so many options, i.e. S, M, L, XL, XXL T-shirts, DVD or Blu-ray and/or change of addresses, but we’re making progress.

Most of the posters were mailed last week and some disks have already been mailed to people in the US . So they should be arriving shortly. No T-shirts/disk orders have been mailed yet.

I have not started sending the awards to contributors outside of the US yet.

Since the Kickstarter funding closed in October, I have been receiving a lot of requests to buy El Capitan. As you all know, this over whelmed one-man operation has been running behind schedule from the beginning, and not much thought has been given as to how El Capitan will be distributed.
But I have been adding people’s names to a list, and as soon as I complete the Kickstarter awards distribution, I will deal with how to distribute the film, and then contact everyone on the list.
So for those interested, e-mail: elcapitanthefilm@gmail.com

Thank you again, Fred

Got mine Monday and watched it that night for the first time. Great film!

Wow! How do you think they filmed that sequence with the full moon passing in front of the climber in silhouette on the wall? These days, one would just do it by digitally merging two shots, but in 1968, I have to think it is real.

For the full moon to fill the frame you'd have to use at least a ... 2000mm lens? It is cool that you can see the moon moving and the climber moving in real time. The moon really moves really fast when zoomed in so close. I would think they only had one chance at filming that sequence!

The night climbing scenes are pretty much black, but the sound track is very real. Reminds me of getting benighted on a climb in Yosemite. Did they really have no head lamps? Looks like they are truly climbing in the dark in that sequence.

I want to thank everyone on this site who shared stories about this film last October. Those stories led me to kick in, and now I've had the opportunity to watch this awesome movie. I've already shared it with a coworker who watched it with his son last night. He told me it was the only "old thing" his son has truly liked. Because of the good word of mouth from y'all, this movie is motivating a whole new generation of climbers. Once again, thanks.

Same here. Sounds like Fred is having issues with the t-shirt supplier, so shipping is on hold at the moment. I was one of the first 50 backers so had hoped to get it by now, but at this point I'm just stoked that it's done. It'll come someday.

Waiting as well myself.

From a soulful climber standpoint still stoked.

From an investor standpoint this is fuqn lame.

thank goodness I'm just old fashioned DVD, and have been enjoying the movie for almost a month now. Showing it to climbing friends who never lived that era of bongs and hammers. They love it!

Got my poster over a month ago. No blu-ray or T-shirt yet. I was also somewhat early in the game. Can't wait to see it!

Got my Blu-Ray and T-Shirt today. This is awesome! Started watching the Blu-ray, got sucked in. I'm transcoding it to h264/mp4 file, comes to about 3GB that way.

WORTH THE WAIT!!!

Fred, I hope you make at least a little money off this thing.

Got my shirt and DVD today. Fantastic, worth the wait for sure. Amazed by how much has changed almost as much as I amazed by how much hasn't changed a bit.

Has anyone received a post-kickstarter dvd or bluray disk from any vendor? I can't seem to order this through anyone. :(

I never got my poster. I gave up on it.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
