Rumney Camping (2013)
I haven't seen a recent thread for Camping in Rumney, all the ones I found were from years ago, mostly from around 2010. |
I've only had experience with Mountain Pines, and they have a great rate for climbers, but I've heard the campground just across from the big parking lot also has the same rate, and it's much closer. Someone else probably has better information. |
I rarely stay at campgrounds unless my friends have booked a place, but Baker River Campground seems to be the best local one if you want amenities and have a group. It is just down the road on the other side of the village. (You pass the Common Cafe on the way to the crag) |

+1 for Baker River. |

I have stayed at the one across the road. They allow you to park at their place during the day so you can skip out on the parking fee. They had fire rings and porta potties and the owners were very nice. Never stayed at Baker. |

Campground A,B, and C at Baker river are all fairly large and right on the river for that size group. |
The one across the road has water available but no showers. Last year it was $8/person/night. Didn't matter if you got there after dark- they find you the next day if you don't find them first. Not sure I'd want to stay a week with no showers but that's up to you. Fire rings and picnic tables are there. |
I have stayed at Mountain Pine, Baker River, and Camara's. |
It's not camping, but there's also a hostel at the Common Cafe and Antiques for $25/night, though this option may not be available after the renovations. Call and ask to be sure. |

We liked our stay at the hostel, last Spring (2012). March + 70F = Lucky us, no one else there!!! |

Also the folks who own the old Stinson Mountain Hotel (just past the common in town, across the street from the common cafe) have a primitive cabin on Stinson Brook and a coupe rooms for rent. This may also be a short-lived option since the place is for sale. Baker River Campground is good, Camerra's is convenient, and D Acres is the ultimate vegan farm hippie commune/hostel atmosphere (in a good way). Also, there's this resource on where to stay: climbrumney.com/rumney-info… Good luck! EDIT: I just saw the dates of your stay and see that you're leaving tomorrow. :) I'll leave my suggestions here for posterity. Where'd you end up staying, and how was it?We stayed at mountain pines, worked out really well because we were staying mid week & were the only ones in camp. They were very accommodating and the outlets & hot showers were definitely a plus. We wound up eating at the common cafe everyday, amazing breakfast to fuel up for the crag & i saw they had a hostel setup and if we go as a smaller group next time that may be an option. The trip wound up being great, despite it raining EVERY day it turned out good, the weather was the only thing keeping it from being better. We could always find a climb that was dry, just might not necessarily have been the climb we wanted to put a lot of time in, but fun either way & I'm definitely happy for it being all of our first times to Rumney. Thanks for all the help guys. |

Forgot about the breakfast/lunch there, like you we ate there a lot in 3+ days and liked everything we had. Owner was friendly, which is not always the case (especially with 'climbers'). |

And definitely, the server, not sure if she was the owner, was really friendly & didnt seem to mind when 8 climbers came in and mobbed her shop and all ordered at least 1 sandwich. I will definitely be going back there anytime im in Rumney. |
