A new wildfire has started in Rifle Mountain Park.

The blaze has prompted pre-evacuations.

The park is closed. Also the fire is not in the park it is about 6 miles south west of the canyon but it is burning that way.

Any update-- is Rifle open for climbing and camping again?

Heard thru the local grapevine that they may reopen the road tomorrow.

Rifle is open again as of today! Wednesday June 19.
