Anyone have experience with WejIt wedge bolts?

Anyone have any experience with Wej-It's Ankr-TITE Wedge Anchors. They seem like typical wedge anchor bolts, available in SS. I've had good experience with Redhead Trubolt, but those aren't available from my local fastener store anymore.

Why not go with Hilti KB3's?

KB3s would work. Can you recommend an online source?

Jim,

I am one of the super lucky ones that got in on the Hilti deal via Ebay a year or so back (Bought 10 boxes). When I got in on the deal (Before he upped the price a bit at my suggestion and AFTER I bought mine. LOL!) I got the boxes of 50 3/8SS for fucking $11.00 EACH! YOWZA! I haven't had to order online yet.

I'd try Hilti itself and maybe order directly or ask if maybe there is a local shop carrying them?

A box of 50 Kilti KB3s cost $301.76. That's $6 per bolt. That's too much. I was getting Redhead bolts for around $1 per bolt.

Any other ideas?

"A box of 50 Kilti KB3s cost $301.76"

and I bought ten boxes for $11.00 each? Fucking A did I get one hell of a smoking GOOD deal.

EDITED:

That price seems way too high. Is that what the Hilti sight quoted?

I could swear that Hilti KB3's come in at approx. $1.40ea or close.

Jim,

before I got the Hilti deal, I used some of these (SS version). Never tested any however and don't know if anyone else here has info.

Only been up for a couple of years but so far they seem fine.

climbtech has powers stainless wedges for ~2 bucks and the KB3's for 3 and a quarter

SS Powers for about $1.99 a bolt:

Sometimes they are selling KB3's and sometimes Powers, but the price is always around 2 bucks a bolt for good wedge anchors. Even if you had to pay a bit more, please don't place inferior hardware store grade anchors.

"and the KB3's for 3 and a quarter"

I swear that too seems way HIGH!

Check around SuperTopo as I am certain I read somewhere that someone was ordering HILTI KB3's at around $1.40ea.

And of course if ClimbTech is selling them at $3.00, they MUST be upping the price, so again, seems there SHOULD be a better deal on them out there, somewhere...

Locker -- that was a quote provided to me by Hilti. (The price isn't listed on their web site.)

I'll look into Powers and some other options. Thanks everyone.

I had no idea that those of us that scored, scored so big. WOW!

Seems WAY overpriced to me though.

Locker this seems a bit atypical... why would you tell him to raise the price on everyone?

" I was joking abt the inexpensive ones you got.".

LOL! Good one!

I know! The price I and many others paid? If it's true that the damned things cost $300 fucking buck per box and we got them between $11.00 - I think it topped at $22.00 per box (they are the real deal, too!). Amazing price!

But again, I am almost certain that any jill or joe can still get Hilti KB3's at around $1.40ea, somewhere. Much more than that for WEDGE style bolts doesn't make sense. Even for SS.

I found the deal first (I think). When I saw them on Ebay at $11.00 per box I about shit. I bought five at first (I think), then contacted the seller and spoke directly to him. At that time I ordered five more boxes (At the $11.00 price) and we spoke more. He asked what I was going to use them for, etc... At that time, I let him know that his deal was great and suggested he might consider upping his price a bit, but to keep it reasonable as to not chase buyers away. He upped it to around $22.00 per box at that time. Still a fantastic price.

Why did I suggest it? Because he didn't know the value of the bolts and I honestly did not want the dude (even though a total stranger to me) to totally rip himself off. Just didn't feel right.

He could have charged a good bit more. But he was/is a good dude and still kept them cheap.

Did this guy give any indication of how he came about getting a huge load of bolts without having any idea of the value? Nice guy? Maybe, but something seems fishy.

Who were you trying local?

"Did this guy give any indication of how he came about getting a huge load of bolts without having any idea of the value?"

All I know is he and his buddy got a pallet full of the boxes at some auction or something like that.

He said they figured at least to get their money back, and of course hoped to profit.

He wasn't in the bolt business per sey, if I have my somewhat forgotten details correct here...

Within a very short period of time after posting the deal on Super Topo, they were ALL sold.

Fuck yeah!

EDITED:

Sounded legit. I don't think they were stolen. But then who knows and honestly, I didn't ask. If they were, doubt he'd have told me anyway.

"Who were you trying local?"...

We found a local dealer here for POWERS...(Denver, CO area)

Was happy to get some Buttonheads at a very good price compared to the online climbing shop super marked up prices...

Can't remember the name of the place at the moment however...
