I will be in Colombia for the next couple months traveling and climbing. I'am a native that grew up in the states, so my knowledge of the climbing there is only from what Ive read and heard. I do however have lots of family there who will know whats up, I will also have access to a car depending on where in the country I am. Have a full rack, fresh rope, climb 5.12, very safe, knowledgeable, and extremely motivated. I plan on being in Armenia for about a month climbing at Penas Blancas and nearby crags (weather permitting), then traveling around the country crushing. I'm also stoked on Alpine objectives though I dont know too much about conditions on the peaks this time of year, and Im not bringing any mountaineering gear. Listo Parce!

Dany,

Feel free to contact me. I live and work in Medellin, but I can definitely get out on the weekends. Also, there are a lot of 'puentes' coming up in June and July, así que aprovechemos el tiempo pues!

I climb 5.11/5.12 these days and also have a full rack, and have been itching to try out some new areas (nearby, I've only climbed at El Peñol). In particular, with a car and a bit of knowledge, we could look into putting up some new routes!

Hey Dany,

I'll be in climbing in Colombia around July 15-August 21 and as of now have nobody in my pocket I can ring up as a climbing buddy.

There are suppposed to be a lot of awesome crags around the upper part of Colombia as well as around Bogota. But, as with you, all I know about them are what I've read and heard about from climbers down there. Most of what I have heard about is sport climbing though, with the exception of a few areas and the alpine stuff around the country.

That being said, if you'd wanna meet up and take a little tour of what Colombia has to offer in the way of climbing, I would be more than willing. I'm a solid 5.11 - 5.12 climber on sport, have lead a little bit on trad at 5.9's, and have all my own gear. As far as alpine goes, I'm lost but it would still be cool to explore some if thats where the wind goes. Get ready to crush!

Dany,

Definitely make sure to spend some time in Suesca! The climbing is excellent! Do El Gran Diedro!

I never got out to Florian but it looks amazing.

Don't go out of your way for La Mojarra as you find dozens of desert crags just like it in the states. Though the setting is amazing.

Have fun man!

Dany et al, Will anyone still be around come October? I'll be passing through round then.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
