EQUINOX ROCK- gate closed
|
Equinox rock; gate at entrance road is closed. Anyone have info on when this might re-open? Is there any type of schedule for this being open/closed? Thanks! |
|
check out this post from Kelly Sheridan. More info can be found at the Washington Climber Coalition's website |

Probably not super cool to talk about that particular crag on the web. I'd consider deleting your post. Let's keep it on the DL until we've got access worked out with the DNR. |

The logging company that leased the land from the DNR for timber harvest controls/locks the gates. |

As long as nobody is spouting off judgement there should not be any problem discussing the gate closure. WCC is working with the company to hopefully reopen the vehicle access. They have no problem with foot access, so if you are willing to hike, you can still climb there. |

I think you have this area confused with another... this isn't the equinox boulder at gold bar. |
|
You're right. I didn't read it carefully enough. |

Hey Calvin... |

@morganh please, help me understand why people are so secretive about equinox. How would posting this question effect access? |
|
There is no guidebook, but Equinox is far from a secret crag anymore. The issue of secrecy arose prior to 2009 when the main avenue for access crossed private property. During that time traffic began to increase and some vandalism occurred on the property, both of which jeopardized future access. Because of that, the newfound stewards and developers of the Equinox had significant reason to maintain a level of secrecy. |
