I have the 3rd edition of the Red River Gorge guidebook. I'm wondering if it's worth getting the new, two volume 4th edition, specifically SOUTH volume?
The southern book is more worth it than the northern edition, but it depends on what you want to climb. I'd say almost everything except chocolate factory is almost identical.

Very little has been updated for Muir Valley in the Ellington Fourth edition. Many visitors with fourth editions have expressed their disappointment in this fact. Although the Muir Valley owners are not involved with the writing or publishing of this book, we've made some of the missing information, including photos of the routes, at the three walls that are new since the last guidebook in a printable pdf file that you can download here: muirvalley.com/routeinfo.html
More information in pdf format on other newer climbs in Muir not included in the Ellington Fourth edition will be made available in the next few days at the link above. We will also try to post in on this website when we have time to do so.
Thanks Rick,,my exact feelings and expressed my disappointment in an earlier thread somewhere here at MP right after I got the new edition. At least a buck of my purchase went to Friends of Muir Valley funds! Will watch the weblink for updates. Love the MicroGuide! Wish I was down there lately to get one of those.
