Bought an item and never received it

I have had alot of positive experiences buying things on the forum and don't think this experience has completely soured me on the idea. I paid for the jacked on 04/07 and still have not received the jacket. Sounds like others might be in the same boat with the same seller. There has been some correspondence back and forth but he hasn't responded to my emails recently. He has said on two occasions that it had been sent, but then would email me back with an excuse as to why he didn't send it out. Last heard from him on the 05/01/2013 when said he would have them out shortly and I would have them early the next week. Haven't heard from him since and have sent a few emails. Link for the sales add below:

I am not looking for recourse. More of a heads up so others don't have the same issue. Best case the jacket eventually comes and it was just a really bad buying experience, worst case I am out $30. If it comes I will update the post.

Why not just file a dispute with Paypal and get your money back?

why would you buy anything from this guy. :)

paypal does disputes as long as you didnt send payment as a gift.

It was sent as a gift. I don't think I have much recourse. It wasn't a ton of money which is good. A little disappointed. No one to blame but myself. Should have sent as a payment, lesson learned.

Splitclimber makes a good point. What was I thinking? :)

You are trying to get used patagucci underwear?!... from a hairy dude with dog on his harness?

IMO, he did you a favor not sending it. He was probably wearing it when he sent you the the emails, in between bouts of porn.

So you turned your brain off for this transaction... it happens. Next time don't try to rip off Paypal and you won't get back bad karma and get ur ass ripped off.

I'm glad you are only out 30 bucks.

Posting your complaint on here and public shaming the seller is the only recourse you have. Hopefully he has a good excuse and will post it and you will get your item or money back and everyone will be ok. Otherwise. . .everyone should avoid this guy.

Selling and buying on MP is an informal process based on trust on both sides and I hope it stays that way. Trust means you run the risk of getting burned unfortunately. It also means the prices are better and we don't pay fees.

I've bought and sold on here a bit and haven't had a problem. I've also used paypal gift without a problem and prefer to do so as it keeps things at the level of trust. Having bought and sold I will say that there can be hassles on both sides-- a seller can get screwed too--but for the most part everyone is pretty cool.

Whoa! Who pulled my last 2 posts? Mo aka phoenix?

I'm a route admin David... pretty sure we've been over this before.

Edit: And no relations to the Phoenix, sorry. But does it really surprise you that an admin would delete your posts? Pretty sure that's par for the course.

Funny, cuz just after I saw the exact same post above change from mo to Phoenix, my posts were deleted. Must be a coincidence.

My post pointing out that buying used underwear from a shady hairy dude is gross is grounds for deletion? Now I know my limits. Thanks.

David hope this helps clarify your confusion, below are the admins listed for this forum. One of them deleted your post. Why don't you PM them and find out?

There were two others. But now I know my place, thanks MP admins, great work keeping the threads wholesome and family friendly.

Well, if it makes you feel any better he did not buy pattaguci underwear anyway. According to his post he bought a jacket, according to his link he bought a houdini softshell, so perhaps the point is moot anyway.

I guess I'm the sucker that was suppose to get the underwear (was suppose to be new but who knows now). I'm having the same experience as brysonh. Bought, excuses, never got the cap 3's. I'm out $30. Clearly he needed it more than I do. The thing that really gets me is the whole blame the victim posts. I'm pretty sure that brysonh and I aren't the only ones who expected a little more in dealing with other climbers, expected a little more from the community. Rich Schreckengost ( aka Some Dude) might haven taken money from me but hopefully I don't lose (and neither does brysonh) my humanity in the process.

I wouldn't blame your lose on a climber. Anyone can set up a profile here. It seems very likely "Some Dude/Rich Schreckengost" made up a name and picked out a random pic readily available from Google images and scammed you guys. Regardless, I'm sorry you lost your money.

Thanks Marc

Ya, I don't know. I don't think it was unreasonable to assume the best here. Rich has been a member a year and made one other comment unrelated to the selling post. Seems like a whole lot of time and effort to get $60. If that's the best he can come up with in a year, he's even less intelligent than the picture he chose to profile.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
