Thanks for the corrections, George. I knew Ian briefly in CB, not well enough to catch that. The rest was copied from a newsfeed. Just wanted to put the names out there, so that people know these were real people, not props to bounce theory off of.
Condolences to family and friends.

Agreed completely. I am glad PaulB finally deleted his comments hopefully copopillo will do the same and show the deceased some respect.

Good article memorializing the victims: denverpost.com/news/ci_2309…

I would suggest that if you feel you have something to offer to the discussion of the accident, please contribute it to the wildsnow thread listed above. The level of dialogue & knowledge regarding backcountry skiing is a lot higher than here.

The CAIC issued a press release to complement the report. In it they write, "Even though this is a very tragic accident, it was avoidable."

More analysis from Lou Dawson.

"While we of course can not know the final truth, I’d caution any readers to not dismiss this as normal human error. Instead, what we appear to have had is some kind of delusional event wherein a group of six backcountry skiers and snowboarders, the majority of whom were well versed in avalanche safety, ignored or forgot basic safety protocols. "

Just read Lou's critique of the situation. Spot on.

Tough read. There but for the grace...

This is an amazing showing of heart-felt contributions!
5 days left to help out Ian's family.
If you have anything to donate please help them reach 50K!

Thank you all and climb safe my friends! Tom-o indiegogo.com/projects/fund…
