Climbing on Acid
|
I just watched a hilarious Vice video, Monster Trucks... on Acid and afterwards was thinking about Dock Ellis (pitcher whom in 1984 pitched a no hitter game... on acid) then, out of habit, jumped over to MP.com, saw the route of the day and wondered about climbing on acid. I can't imagine it would be anywhere near doable, but oh so wish someone has experiences that prove me wrong. Pretty please? |

It happens. |

Do everything on acid. Climbing is no exception |

yes it does happen, more often than you would think, it really was pretty mellow actually. |

just look at a few of the old aid routes on El Cap - Mescalito, Sea of Dreams, Tangerie Trip and draw your own conclusions. |

I climbed up a onto a pier from down on the sand at the beach once and I remember thinking it was the total culmination of my climbing knowledge. As if I was putting my climbing skills to practical use. It felt great to climb, I placed my hands with confidence and purpose. I bet it was like 5.7 or 8. I down climbed it too and it was freegin awesome. |

i know an old-time hippy from Montrose who claims that his sister was friends with the fellas that put up the dread Hallucinogen wall roundabout the time they did the FA. this sister sez those boys were eating blotter the whole way. wild! |

btw did many many acid trips. last one was roughly 70 hits. Went to the hospital and never came fully down. Over a decade later I'm still tripping. So I see hallucinations when I climb, drive, hike, etc. |

Why the incessant need for attention (trolling)? |

Legend has it that John Yablonski soloed Spiderline (11d) in Joshua Tree while on a large dose. He soloed it less than a month after Bachar managed to get the first free ascent on toprope. |

Skat-Stop hijacking threads and being such a troll. |

Anthony Milano wrote:Skat-Stop hijacking threads and being such a troll. Acid seems like a bad idea.If I'm "trolling" then I'm not consciously doing it dude. Acid, for certain personality types, can be bad cuz it brings to light all your problems and shows them all to everyone including yourself. It gave me Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder. If you're gonna climb in acid then I find it best to throw in some ecstasy in with it so you're tripping and rolling - back then we called it trolling. But it's best known as candy flipping. Hey, if I hadn't been detained in the ER all night, I would have jumped out the window or off a building. It just has that effect on people in high doses. I'm not a hater guys, Skat |

Legend has it that the Devils Tower legend Frank Sanders solo aided "Blotter is my Spotter"( mountainproject.com/v/blott…) on acid for the first ascent. |

Just breathe a bit, and try to walk the razor's edge of moderation, in all things. Sometimes trying to post up for positive feedback online gets jumbled and static-y, like it's not really YOU that's coming through, so it's not even worth the effort, y'know? Remember that almost everyone here is trying to slam something for some reason so that somebody quotes it and gets +1 bullshit. You don't need that, don't give the gapers the satisfaction. Be well, and if you're gonna be "trolling", don't mention it here, unless you got some :) |

Peter D. wrote:just look at a few of the old aid routes on El Cap - Mescalito, Sea of Dreams, Tangerie Trip and draw your own conclusions.Yup, several members of the famed 'DLFA' climbed Yosemite walls on acid back in the late 70's, early 80's. Hell they probably climbed most days at Devils Lake that way too as far as I could tell. |

Been there done that. Climbed about 60ft into a cave, then tripped my ballz off embracing my surroundings. This time it was definetly more of an organic trip. In anticipation of not wanting/being able to climb/rappel back out, I fixed ropes and had harness with ascenders rigged for my escape. Probably spent about 5 hours there. Great time. I was solo in the cave and had a lot of thinking time. Consequently, this started my uphill battle to get clean of all drugs(including alcohol). Today I'm quite proud to have 3 years clean and ALOT less problems in my life. Though the trip was great, as anyone who's done acid can tell you, I was able to step out of my mind and body and take a look at my life and how I was living it. I'd like to say one could do this without the influence of drugs, but I have yet to figure out how. Good times, and sometimes bad, not forgotten or regretted. |

Is acid making a comeback? |
