Will belay for...

Name is Tyler, I live in Wyoming, but, I'll be living in Raton, NM for the next year working. I'm looking for climbing partners. I'm down for anything. My favs are trad and alpine, up to 5.11ish. More than willing to lead. I'll climb sport or boulder as well. Ice climbing is also in. As well as kayaking, mountain biking, skiing, blah-blahing, you get the picture. Anything.

Hey, I live in Albuquerque and been planning to get up to the taos area soon for some moderate trad, think most off it is 2 or 3 pitches.
There's some really awesome adventure trad down in the Organs that I'm hoping to get on too before it's blazing hot.

Been a long time since I was down that far, but Sugarite State Park had nice cracks for gear. Cheyney turned us on to the area although I don't think there ever was a guide. I think someone chopped a lot of the bolted rappel anchors from what I remember. Not sure what became of all that.
Also the Dike areas around Monument lake, west of Trinidad have also seen recent development. and the spiney ridge above the lake has some excellent V-fun bouldering with ample, albeit noisy, camping.
THE MOST brown bear activity I've ever seen in Colorado, so camp accordingly. The rangers shoot rubber bullets at them to keep them away from the campers. I even had a cinnamon colored bear pass me(I was doing 40 mph at the time) on the 2 lane highway late one night. Never thought they could run that fast!
Buzzing on down to Cochiti Mesa, over to Penitente Canyon, and even up to Shelf road would be reasonable camping ventures from Raton also.

I live in Trinidad (20 minutes from Sugarite/Raton) and climb there regularly. It's basalt crack with some face pockets, south facing. A fire went through there a few years ago so the road is closed up to the cliff (may open this summer), but there are hike in options around 15-25 minutes. Have to pay a $5 vehicle pass. There's one semi-sport route there and a bunch of fun trad, a few decent anchors at the top scattered along a short section of the cliff. Hit me up, I'll head down with you.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm not worried about the bears as I've wrestled a few in my day....not. Aaron, yeah I plan on going to Sugarite most days after work (I get done around 5).
