Description Suggest change

Plethora of boulder and top rope problems. Usually secluded. Great granite rock! Camping within walking distance (100yds) Can be super cold in the winter. Great summer place to escape the heat and smog of the LA basin.

Getting There Suggest change

Take the Angeles Crest Highway (Hwy 2) N. past the 134 and 210. The Horse Flats turnoff is ~28 miles from the Hwy 210 intersection, and is the next paved road after Newcomb's Ranch. The road is windy so look at your odometer. After taking the Horse Flats turnoff, drive ~2.5 miles to the Horse Flats campground.  There is no parking allowed along the road, past the campground gate. Unless you are camping or willing to pay $12 for a campsite, do not park in the campground loop or at anyone's campsite. There are 5 main bouldering / top rope areas here all from south to west from the campground. Follow obvious trails to the crags located on the right side of the loop road through the campground. You can only drive one way on the loop road, so its on your right if you're driving. If you stand in campsite 1 and look across the road there is a climber trail right there. There is another trail further around the loop road by site 5 that is VERY evident. Follow this trail to the Teflon Presidents Area (first), Romeo Void, the Main Area, then finally up to Pie Slice. From Pie Slice you can follow a faint trail to the right over to the Top Rope Wall. It is easier to take the trail across from site 1 straight to the Tope Rope Wall though. The Romeo Void trail will loop past all the areas and back to camp eventually, but the trail is faint after Pie Slice.
