Weston L wrote:Hey all - Looking for a spot to bivy near the park (Springdale area?) on Friday night. My partner and I will just be looking to crash for a few hours and not be hassled and then get into the park on the first shuttle. Not looking for the secret handshake-requiring triple secret bivy spot, just somewhere easy to access and that doesn't suck to throw a few sleeping bags down for. Also, is there any way my partner and I can get an earlier start than the first shuttle? Kinda seems like a hassle. Thanks! Westonyep, now that mosquito cove is closed, the best place is just south of rockville. Turn south on bridge road, cross over the river then the road makes a sharp right and becomes Grafton Road, follow grafton for a mile or two then make a left onto the obvious (only major) dirt road heading south. GPS coordinates for the area are 37.143573,-113.057556. |

Another option, close to Kolob Canyons is the Browse exit on I-15, a couple miles south of the Kolob Canyons exit. Exit and drive into the mountains. Lots of fire wood, but make sure to put your fire out completely, we don't need more wildfires in that area. |
