East Coast Climber Moving to Sacramento
|
I will be moving from New York to Sacramento (probably North Highlands) in the beginning of June. I spend most of my time climbing in the Adirondacks, so I am hoping there will be some sort of "adventure climbing" out there. Any beta on the climbing scene around the Sacramento area? It looks like the Sierra Foothills North is the closest area on MP. |

Refer to these. That should get you started. |

Much thanks. Lots of good info there. |
|
You'll miss the Dacks some, but will probably love it here. |
|
I think that my best bet will be to live in Sacramento and bike to work in NH. It'll be a better place to live coming right out of college. |

M.Morley wrote:Hey Bill- Sacramento has a great climbing community. I agree with caughtinside that living in (or near) Midtown is the way to go for a guy your age. Pipeworks is a very nice gym and the people are cool. Easy day trips (<1.5 hrs) to Sugarloaf, Phantom Spires, Lover's Leap, Donner, Auburn, and Consumnes. We'll have regular weekend trips planned throughout the spring and summer, so feel free to give a call if you want to tag along. MikeAwesome. Thanks for the info, Mike. I'll probably fly to Sacramento before I move for good in June to check out the Midtown area and try to secure an apartment. All of the rock in the Tahoe area looks so clean, much different than the lichen and moss covered faces in the Adirondacks. I'll drop you a message when I finally get settled in and we can meet up at Pipeworks sometime. |

Welcome to Northern California. |

Much thanks for the info. PM sent. |

I live in Vacaville and am lookin for Saturday partners. Let me know if you want to climb. |

Hey Bill, |
|
Good stuff, Andy. I'll be heading out to Sac this Friday until Monday to find an apartment, buy furniture, buy a car, set up bank accounts, etc. and am really looking forward to the one-way flight on June 1st. I might hold off on the Pipeworks membership until I really get settled in and buy all of the other stuff I'll need (like a bike). |

Right on Bill - cool training set up. Drop me line when you get settled and we'll introduce you to my crack machine. |

Climate change deniers should be forced on a Sierra Crest Death March to witness desertification first hand. But we always hope for snow, and sometimes it's delivered. |
