Getting There Suggest change

Half way up the hill to El Salto take the left turn down the crazy dirt road. This is the very small town of Puerto Genovevo. The sign says Potrero Redondo. Drive down this bumpy road for 30 minutes. Cars or trucks with clearance are recommended though I often see the smallest of compact cars making the drive, but I wouldn't recommend it. Subarus seem to do fine but use your judgement. If it is about to rain or has just rained I don't recommend driving any vehicle down the steep road. When you reach where the rivers come together (las adjuntas) park. The first parking area/ kitchen is Don Lalo's. You can camp with him and use his kitchen and give him a tip when you leave.

Once you reach Las adjuntas go down stream about 150 ft up a ramp to a campground. There, you have to pay 100 pesos Per Person to have access to the trail that leads to the cave. You walk to the upper right corner to a trail that is clearly leading you along the ridge until you reach a little creek. There will be a water source, 10 meters before reaching water, there is a very VERY bushy and unclear path that leads up a very steep ramp up to a ridge that follows until you reach the cave. I would highly recommend taking a machete, pants and long sleeve shirt. I hope later someone can go and clean the path to get there. I leave my wikiloc path so you guys can use.
