1) I never said REI was a social service, I just said I put you in the same category as someone who abuses social service programs. It reminds me of the time Ole' Dirty Bastard from Wu-Tang pulled up to pick up his food stamps in a limo... 2) I'm not complaining about high prices at REI. 3) (And this is the only thing I've been trying to say the whole time which apparently I wasn't conveying clearly) Bearbreeder and anyone else who takes advantage of a cooperative is a scumbag. Hopefully that's clear. I'm sure Bearbreeder will find a way to twist that statement into his standard, "Don't shop at REI" response, but again, just for clarity; the only message I am trying to convey is that I think you're a despicable and selfish human being. I love REI and their return policy when legitimately used. Birdman out.

As others have stated up thread, the OP should send the cam back to Black Diamond. Sure; they probably won't send you a new cam, and it's likely that they know how & why the cam lobes got bent and have nothing to learn from seeing your cam. BUT; maybe, just maybe, there is something wrong with your cam & others they manufactured about the same time, and finding out about it could save someone a grounder. If they don't treat you nicely be sure to get all taco with them, either that or man up & lay down some serious hot dog!

I think this more or less proves that bearbreeder is a moron, as ES here is an advocate for all things stupid and argumentative. hmmm well I was an employee at REI for over 5 years so what would I know.... Meanwhile you just continue to talk out of your ass and make asumptions.

Another opinion (mine) on the REI debate: Returning the op's cam to Rei and expecting a new one is abuse of the policy - not that kipp.fo would do this - just saying. The cam worked but took a beating. Save it for show and tell, buy another and move on.

I just read all this and wow.. I know people like to be self righteous, heck I know I do but really abusing REI policies? Are you just trying to argue with beer breeder? You guys realize REI's sales were 1.9 billion last year? I really doubt the REI board's sitting around worrying about people returning their bent cams. That cam will be sold when it's time for the member's only used gear sale anyways. REI's income was down 4% in 2012 to 29 million. Must have been returning that cam. OP.. Sorry to be off topic but I just couldn't help it. My advice is try REI. I own a block of Black Diamond and I don't need you lowering the price trying cheat BD out of a cam.

When Rei changes it's return policy i stop shopping at Rei. Selection at Rei kinda sucks so the return policy is really the only thing that drives me to purchase from them.
