NYC climbers: LETS GO TO THE GUNKS (I'll drive....)

I need to step up my rock climbing but I don't have a partner, a rack, or the skills to lead anything in the Gunks.

I DO have a car, though, and I'll drive us from NYC if you'll lead.

My schedule is flexible--weekends, weekdays, whatever.

Disclaimer: I'm an ice climber at heart and rock is still mysterious to me (in other words, I'm working at being successful on the lower-grade routes.) Please don't get in touch if you're only interested in 5.9 and above or if you need a belay slave for your personal project. (Not that there's anything wrong with that--we just won't be a good match.) And yes, I've hired (and continue to hire) guides from time to time, so thanks in advance for THAT advice!

I'll be looking to lead some 5.8s and easier in the coming weekends. If you also want to learn I'd be willing to teach. I live north of NP so don't need a ride but IM reliable and will be there if I say I will. I know a few NYC based gunkies too so maybe I can get you in touch with them (they don't frequent MP).
