I like all types of climbing: sport, trad, alpine rock and bouldering. Lately I've gotten into motorcycle track days, which are far more physically demanding than I ever thought they would be. Just recently got back into skiing after 12 years away. I have also been into bikram yoga for the past five years.

I can fish (for Trout).... learned when I was like 8 Backpacking.... At like 11 SKI.... started at 13. I race Go-karts... the 100mph ones.... when I have a extra pile of cash I wish to burn. (Phenomenal high... very much like rockclimbing-where you get into a different head space) I love to MT. Bike, hate road riding, cause of the cars, buses etc. I have tryed SCUBA... It was fun, but the ice cold, murkey ocean in CA was not fun. Lots of other "sports" to do... But I think that to become the best climber I could be, I needed to spend about 90% of my free time, climbing. That is how I roll. Good topic...

I have at least two dozen. I also think that one hobby can wear out a part of your body faster than 20 hobbies even if they are similar. Plus you can fill up a bigger gear closet.

Climb. Ultimate frisbee. Basketball. Cycling. Have a mountain bike don't get out on it much though. Speed hiking(basically doing day hikes and trying to beat my fastest times in them.) Work on cars. Trash talk on forums. Write stories and sometimes poetry. Garner karma on reddit. Read books. Yeah I have way to much that I want to be good at. Instead I am kind of mediocre at it all.

I play pick up basketball about 5 times a week, football when it's in season, volleyball, soccer, and I run (not as much as I used to, but I still do)

Climbing (in most subsets) is my primary hobby but I also surf (on occasion), dive (when I get guilt tripped into it) and have excelled at long distance hiking. I play ultimate and swim but am also interested in EMS and SAR. Soon, I'm sure I'll burnout on climbing and go do something else for a few months but the two things I have been coming back to for years are climbing and hiking with distractions in between.

Activities I've engaged in during active climbing phases: whitewater kayak and canoe, ice climbing, ski mountaineering, downhill skiing, road and mountain biking, backpacking, Windsurfing, equestrian sports, archery rifle and shotgun hunting, dog training, fishing, flat water canoeing, rowing, and fitness training for all that. Now, some rock climbing, small game hunting, road biking, running, hiking, riding my horse, downhill skiing, veterinary medicine, and raising my daughters with exposure to all that good stuff.

A lot of similarities in sports on this thread. Personally: skiing, cycling, fly fishing, canoeing, backpacking, and the manufacture of NUCLEAR HOTSAUCE!

I"m a teacher so as you may guess, I have very little free time outside of the summer, when I all of a sudden am left with too much free time and not enough money - -I've been in punk bands for more than a decade. It eats up most of my free time. To my partner's dismay, when I"m not gone on climbing trips, I tend to be on tour. she will kill me one day. -I love snowboarding, but unfortunately really can't afford it. When I was younger I competed briefly, and if I had unlimited funds I would spend more time in snow. -Like a lot of teachers, I'm always hustling to find ways to make ends meet - I coach soccer in the fall and spring, and more recently started coaching tennis. Luckily they don't interfere with my weekends, so for $50 an hour I'll spend a few hours late at work every day.
