today was one of those days when i watched alot of climbing videos online, and i stumbled upon this, at 2:59 in the video it shows the rack and besides all the tantalizing X4's sitting there i noticed a .5/.75 BD offset C4 looking cam. Looks brand new and i havent heard anything about this, just wondering if anyone else has!

Does anyone know anything about these?

here is the link to the video

The x4s will be coming out next spring in offsets.

So says the BD rep for whatever region SF gets included in.

That definitely appears to be a .5/.75 purple/green hybrid c4 by BD
It has dual colors & a double axle

Also curious & no I haven't heard or seen anything of BD hybrids

And as far as x4's as far as I'm aware, I was told May before reps can be like "Hey I need 3 full sets of X4's to this retailer"

Nice video too

that what i thought, ive heard about the x4 hybrid but this really looks like a c4! not that it matters because none of us are getting our hands on these things, just curious to see if anyone has info on such hybrid

Another thing I didn't really notice until after I posted was that X4's have only 1 of the armored cable pieces and thumb loop color coded, while c4's have the cam lobes anodized to color match, which immediately in my head said 'thats a c4' when i saw 2 lobes one color and 2 the other, but could be wrong, they could color code the lobes on the x4 hybrids for easier ID, and according to the posts above the BD x4 hybrids would be publicly available sometime in the near future

If it's a proto of an offset they are probably just going to pull current parts that are already made if they work. And the lobes of the .75 and .5 C4 and x4 are the same.

correct, but what I was saying was that the x4's have plain non-anodized lobes while the c4's have anodized color-coded lobes, not saying they are different sizes, it would however make sense to have the lobes be different colors on offsets regardless if they are c4 or x4

Folks that work at BD have been climbing on off-sets C4s for years. Last I chatted with those guys (Nov '12), they suggested that off-set cams may become available in the future - but not to get my hopes up.

Medium to large sized offsets seem like an insanely specific specialty piece, and are probably next to useless. Offset x4's, however, may have a real market. I'm a big fan of small offsets in granite, and it would seem obvious to me to add offsets to compete directly with aliens and mastercams.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
