precipice guidebook question.
|
Does anybody know where I can find a guidebook to the precipice area in Maine? Is there a online pdf somewhere? Or should I even bother getting one, does mountain project cover most of it? |
|
The guide book that best covers the area is out of print but you might be able to find some info in a new england guide book that has acadia in it |
|
There is an out of print guidebook by Jeff Butterfield called something like a "A Climber's Guide to Acadia State Park". There are usually some used copies floating around for sale. Also, if you stop in to either of the climbing stores in Bar Harbor they can help you out (and at least Cadillac Mountain Sports usually has the guide on display to look at). |

O.K guys thanks a lot! |

Sam, there really aren't a ton of routes on the precipice. MP covers the vast majority of the quality routes, and can get you around the cliff quite efficiently. |

If you scroll down in the linked thread below, Jeff Butterfield (author of the Acadia guide) offers to loan copies of his guide to visitors and provides e-mail contact info. |

The Butterfield guide is the best available and there's a lot more in there than can be found elsehwere. |
