Has anyone purchased trail building tools before (Pulaski, Mcloud, etc)? Where's the best place to get them?

Haven't bought them, but I would start looking at Bailey's, Forestry Suppliers, etc.

I have found stuff at Lowe's or local hardware stores but they tend to be more home and garden stuff. Some of it works pretty close to the professional stuff though.

Randall, we've been getting our high school kids involved with a local trail group and have done some trail work at our local crags. It's really nice being involved with a group and they really, really know what they're doing. Plus, they have all the tools. And they are super excited to help out with projects.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking into getting tools for the Western Colorado Climbers' Coalition. We've been borrowing tools from COPMBA and using whatever home tools people bring. Just looking to start building a collection so we don't have to borrow as much.

That's great that you get your kids involved in trail days Mike. We do what we can to get our climbing team kids involved as well.

I've always had good luck with Trail Services, they'll be a little more expensive than Lowe's/Home Depot but they're definitely professional quality tools. Forestry Suppliers would be another good option though.

Kinda spendy, but super cool.

If there are any, talk to local mountain bike clubs. They should have most/all of that stuff.

Jeff: Trail services is looking like a good resourse thank you.

Portercassidy: That's way more money than we're looking to spend but pretty cool. We usually dont go more than 1 mile or two from the car so that would be a little overkill as well.

Michael: COPMOBA is the local mountain bike group. We borrow tools from them for now but they often have trail days on the same days we do so it doen't always work.

Thanks again for the help.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
