Mountaineering Boot help

Crossing over into the mountaineering realm with my first trip coming up next weekend. I have a pair of nepal evo which i want to use and seem to fit fine but the only problem is that they keep cutting off my circulation.

I tried not tightening them down so much on the lower laces and they still continue to cut a bit of circulation. I have other boots i can use in the case that i cannot make these work but really trying to figure out how to best fit them to my feet.

I have done plenty of chugging up mountains in combat boots but i am not used to having such stiff boots. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and i know that finding the boot that feels most comfortable to me is the most important thing.

Ross....try tightening the lower portion of the boot securely, then leave the hooks on the cuff open or loosely secure the lower one. This approach offers great ankle flexibility and defeats that "rocker" motion caused by the stiff sole of the boot. Once on the ice or technical terrain cinch up the laces on the hooks of the boot cuff as needed. I've always found this approach to give greater comfort while walking and reduces abrasion/blistering on the ankle.

That makes allot of sense. I dont know why i didn't think about trying that because i have done it before with previous boots. Thanks for posting man and giving me some good info.

Hey man, havent been on here in a while but yes, that did solve my problem. Thanks man.

To bad the trip went south and was not able to make the ascent, partner was having some medical issues that hit him out of no where at the beginning of the climb. All good though, thats how climbing goes. I am only 26 and still have a lot of climbing left in my life.

Yeah man, hes doing good now. Going too make another trip out to red rocks in march so will get my high in then. Just wish i didn't always have to plan a trip to get higher climbing in. Georgia doesn't have much to offer other than single pitch stuff.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
