Any reliable details out there yet?

Regular media reports can be wildly inaccurate. The belayer was able to get down but the climber was 350-400 feet up? Wow.

I was thinking of going this weekend but the ice quality is a big mystery to me. Cold as heck in the valley but warmer in the mountains.

already a thread started about the accident

the 350-400 feet up was the approach to the apron, 40 foot fall so sounds like she fell from the first pitch ie apron top out anchor area (speculative not verifiable fact). the rescuers had to go up the approach to the bottom of the apron to get to where she was.

I am a good friend of the woman who was injured. She is still in critical condition at U of U hospital with multiple life threatening injuries. We have established a Caring Bridge site where you can receive more information. I will post any major new developments.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
