Description
Exeter's showcase boulder! With roadside access, beautiful landings, and over a dozen boulders from V0 to V10, this 18 foot tall block should be every visitor's first stop in Exeter! The Exeter Boulder has long been a local climbing haunt with a history spanning back at least to the early 1970s and perhaps even as far back as the late 1940s with Bob Bate's Exeter Mountainerring Club. The boulder sits on a rocky knob out behind "The Rinks" (a large ice skating rink facility) a stone's throw from the road. Hardwood trees provide ample shade in the summer and good sun exposure in the winter.
Getting There
From Highway 101, take exit 9 onto Route 27 (Epping Road). Head east on 27 half a mile to a left hand turn onto Industrial Drive. There's a big sign for "The Rinks" here at the corner. Follow Industrial Drive 1/4 mile to "The Rinks" (on your left). Drive around to the back side of the building and park in one of three parallel parking spots across from some exposed ledge. The trail goes up the right side of the ledge. Follow the trail 100 feet or so to the boulder. The address for "The Rinks" is 40 Industrial Drive.
