Anyone been to Lee Vining since the recent storms? Wondering how the approach is looking. Thanks!

Type Eastern Sierra mountain guides on YouTube and look for most recent video of conditions.

Any more current info that's not 20 days old? I know somebody has been in the canyon this holiday season? Also, any info on June Lake Ice? Looking forward to being there Tuesday!

Conditions as of yesterday:
Chounard's is fat in the center, a little thin on the left and pretty short on the right. Yesterday and the day before have been pretty warm, meaning lots of hacking off big wet dinner plates in the main area. Things should get more solid with the cold mass arriving.
Main Wall is also pretty fat, with the center and left being the most continuously formed flows from the bottom to top

The approach is well beaten down. Snowshoes unneccesary, although we did just get about 12" in Mammoth so who knows.

Was there Saturday. ^Description above still accurate except Main Wall looked thin to me in certain sections, especially Spiral Stair Case. 2 groups were climbing there though!

Approach was the easiest I'd ever had to get up there; packed and short. No snow shoes needed.

Colder than hell - the high was about 13.

Go get it!

I was there saturday as well. I agree with everything said in the last two posts. The ice was thinner than the end of last season.

June Lake Roaside was fun on Sunday and had some descent spots. Ice was thin in some places and you had to be careful not to take a swing into rock.

The seeps above double eagle (June Lake area) were covered in snow.

I heard a rumor that the ice is ready for climbing already. anyone know if this is true?
