while out this past weekend i realized i had forgot my harness at the base of the climb, it was a decent hike back so i opted to just make a swiss seat. i used a runner for the leg loops (this was the bad idea) and normal webbing for the waist. i also had forgot my atc since it lives on my harness. i repelled on a munter, which i know twists the rope, but this was way worse than usual. so basically i spent a long time repelling in a really thin harness which was cutting off my circulation. for the past three days i've had an almost charlie horse sensation in my upper hips and back of the thighs. from the short research i did online it feels exactly how symptoms of reduced blood flow are described (which i figured it had something to do with), but all i could find as causes were old age or people who sit for hours upon hours. im 20 and very active. the closest i found related to climbing was suspension trauma, but i didnt pass out or die, so not quite what i was looking for. anyone else experience this? any info on what, if anything, to do about it?
I'm only an EMT, but I'd be suprised if you did any long lasting damage. I'd bet it's more of a deep bruise, maybe some slight nerve damage. My money is that it clears up in a week or two, but it wouldn't hurt to get it checked out.
