Get a car with good gas mileage and skip all of the crags mentioned thus far.
I spent lots of time checking out all the little choss heaps around the bay when I should have listened to the folks who had all lived there for a long time when they said not to waste my time on bay area crags and go directly to where the good climbing is, basically anywhere between Truckee and Independence.

Agreed, but some of the nearby "choss heaps" can be fun enough for a couple of hours after work in the summer when the days are long. But don't make an expedition out of 'em when the Sierras are calling.
Yep. To be fair an afternoon at Indian and Mortar rock can be fun. Pinnacles were far and away my favorite day trip spot although that's going to be pushing it for someone living in the north bay.
Yah, I checked out Mickey's beach yesterday and was generally way too hard for me, but looks like there are a few potential routes and projects on the ocean facing-wall. Would like to check it out when the tide and weather are a little more welcoming. Egg Rock also looked cool from the guide book. Anyone interested in heading out there?
And ya, definitely stoked about the weekend trip potential. Will have to wait til I get a little more shit done though; provided the world doesn't end next week that is.
hey if you're still down to teach a noobie, i'm free pretty much all the time. i just recently went bouldering and top roping and i think i'm getting into it.
