Mythos Sizing

I know these types of questions are best left to just trying on the shoes (which I have done!), but I suppose I'm mostly concerned about sizing wrong and then having them stretch gnarly. Maybe someone with similar sizing can provide some input.

I'm thinking about getting a pair of Mythos. Currently been wearing 5.10 newtons that are about to blow out (size EU 44/US 10.5 and fit perfect!). Haven't worn any sportivas for a while, but used to have a pair of size 42 Nagos that fit nice at first, but later stretched too much and became quite sloppy. Not sure how the Mythos will stretch compared to those.

Anyone have input as to what I should be looking for in the Mythos? Thanks!

They definitely stretch a good amount. I'd get them as tight as initially bearable. They're a very comfortable shoe overall and smear well, though not very high performance otherwise (IMHO). I never use them anymore since getting the Miuras, which are admittedly a lot less comfortable but so worth it.

I typicall wear a 44 and I think in the mythos I either got a 42 or a 42.5. They stretch and are comfy. I'd say a minimum of 2 sizes down IMO.

The Mythos will stretch a bit. I wear between 10.5 and 11 size street shoe and wear a size 42 Mythos very comfortably (nicknamed them my "climbing loafers"). Hope that helps.

I have 41.5 mythos that have stretched such that I can wear them all day like loafers and subsequently only use them for all day slab climbing. My street shoe is somewhere between a 42.5 and a 43 depending on the shoe. I don't mind the fit of my mythos now since I only use them for all day comfort climbing shoes but if I was planning on using them for anything particularly technical I would size down at least to a 41, likely a 40.5 given the stretch. I have a pair of 42 Miuras that are the perfect compromise of comfort and performance for whatever it's worth.

Two sizes down at least. I wear a 43 or 43.5 in Sportiva runners and 41 in Mythos. Very comfy but still fairly precise. Could even be smaller but I like them for cracks and long routes.

I'm down 1.5 sizes. Stretched to fit just fine : )

If you want performance think 3 sizes down, all day comfort or socks 2 sizes.

To the OP, why wouldn't you get another pair of the Newtons? I have a pair that I like; but haven't had a chance to use them much. Living in Indy, it takes road trips and plane tickets to get to good climbing. Just wondering if you thought they wore out too fast or had performance issues. Thanks.

Thanks for all the input everyone, I'll keep it all in mind. I'm definitely looking to keep with the comfort for long days and crack climbing, since I already have a more aggressive pair of shoes.

Yeah, this is something I've actually been leaning towards. No need to mess with new sizing and such if I already know something works. Nope, it wasn't either of those things. They lasted a year before I resoled them, but unfortunately I think the resolers messed up a little since the L one is delaminating, while the R looks perfect. Either way, I resoled them with 5mm making them even LESS sensitive and the uppers are wearing thin...time for new shoes! They are a great pair of shoes though, but definitely stiff and lacking sensitivity (can't really "feel" any footholds through the rubber).

If you're missing the sensitivity, you can just sand off some of the rubber. As far as the delam goes pick up some barge cement and glue them. Just put them under heavy pressure while it dries. Repeat as needed and get the rest of the life out of those old shoes!

Just happened to be surfing on campsaver.com. They have the newtons for $92, plus have a 20% off coupon code on the site. That should knock them down to a pretty good price. Just thought I'd share.

I have 41.5 nagos and 41.5 mythos. Happy with both, size wise.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
