CampSaver Sucks!!!

CampSaver website has 2011 model BD Lotus harness advertised as clearance at 50% off (see pic). The small was listed as clearance for the 2011 model, but the price was still $79.95 (the larger 2011 model was correctly listed as $39.99 and also marked clearance in parenthesis). I called and spoke to Simon, who claimed to be the store manager. He said that the website was incorrect and that ALL the 2011 harnesses should be $79.99! WTF???

So you're mad because the website was wrong and you didn't get a deal?

Campsaver is awesome...I've bought a ton of stuff from them and will again.

Go for it! Maybe this is the first and only time they lie and try to cover their tracks. I can only go from my experience!

Ok now they have changed their price to the $39.99. I would rather pay full retail than deal with those guys again. I spoke twice to them on the phone and they told me both times the price should be $79.99 and then they go and change it to $39.99.

As I used to work for an internet shopping site where I got the pleasure of maintaining the website and handling customer service I was curious and checked their site. It does say on this page
campsaver.com/service/shopp…

"We love giving our customers great deals on the best gear, but sometimes we make mistakes and pricing is inaccurately represented on our site. CampSaver.com reserves the right to change inaccurate pricing or policies at any time, and does not hold an obligation to honor inaccurate pricing. We appreciate your understanding in this matter."

Which is basically what I expected I would find. Pretty standard

I've not worked for an on-line retailer, but I live in Chattanooga, where Rock/Creek is based and I often compare store prices to on-line prices and have gotten better deals on-line than in store and vice versa. Just because a price is one thing on-line doesn't mean the price is the same in store. I've even seen the same when visiting REI in ATL or Denver.

So, after you complained they saw an error, changed the price down to $39.99 and you're still complaining? You'd rather pay someone else $79.95 than pay Campsaver $39.99?

To quote you: WTF???

I've only bought from them once so far. Climbing shoes. When they arrived, they were much too small - even though I sized them according to what the manufacturer recommended. Campsaver has a "fit guarantee" so they'll pay return shipping and shipping for replacements. Filling out the online RMA was a breeze. And it printed a UPS call tag for me to ship the first shoes back.

I just got notification that my new shoes have shipped. I'd buy from them again. Their return policy is one of the best I've seen.

Campsaver has always treated me right. GTG.

I just realized that you double-posted this (here and in General Climbing).

Seems like a whole lot of undeserved hate...is there some other reason you're bashing on CampSaver?

I have only had great experiences with Campsaver.
I recently had a problem with a jacket, and it took about 1 minute for them to get everything worked out and get a replacement in the mail.

The OP is apparently in SLC. Might be associated with Black Diamond, for all I know. Maybe BD doesn't like Campsaver undercutting its other outlets. I dunno...just guessing.

Things happen..you shop online enough or even just in general, sooner or later something won't go your way. Move on...

That's $40 worth of misplaced pride.

There should be a quota for idiotic assumptions per post...

Thanks for reminding me, there's been a sweet deal on a Rab jacket at Campsaver I've been meaning to get.

You just caught them on a day when the guy making decisions about "clearance" prices wasn't around. Prices change all the time based on inventory. The store manager that you talked to probably needed approval before selling the harnesses half price. Once you alerted him to the problem he got approval and fixed it. Now you're mad and planning on spending an extra $40 because the guy did his job.

"50% off select styles"

Don't buy it if you don't need one of their select styles. I have zero experience with "Camp Saver," but this thread is ridiculous.

Don't buy the harness (or take a refund if you did) and move on.

This is MP. If you post anything about a harness, someone will tell you to buy one from Misty Mountain.

Seriously though, buy a Cadillac from Misty and you'll never want to climb in another harness ever, well maybe another harness made by Misty Mountain.

I'm still kicking myself for not getting an extra pair of Pontas climbing shoes when they had them for under $50.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
