Looking for a solid partner

Climbing with the wife isn't working out. Looking for a reliable partner. I've met and climbed with a few people off the internet and I'd say my experiences have been 50/50 so I've compiled a short list of who my ideal climbing partner is LOL. I'm predominately interested in trad but do enjoy getting out and clipping bolts often. I have all gear necessary including a 4wd vehicle. On to the list...

-Male or Female doesn't matter
-at least 25 years old, but preferably 30 or older (life experiences, maturity level yada yada)
-I'm not looking to teach beginners
-non-smoker or at least doesn't have the stoner mentality and doesn't smoke while climbing
-no mental illness or on antipsychotic medication
-climbs at the gym when you can't get outside.
-contributing member of society, an all around good person?
-not looking to be a professional climber or reality TV star (yes some people on here are)
-looking to safely push it and be committed to climbing

A little about me:

I'm 28, happily married, a homeowner with a job that requires me to be healthy and uninjured. Lead trad comfortably at 5.8/5.9 but have lead some easier 10's at eldo, looking to get more focused over the winter. Lead sport comfortably at 5.10, have lead as hard as 11+ depending on the style of climb. I've been climbing 4 years and have a background in rescue and rope access work. Currently working a funky rotating schedule with 12 hour shifts so I can't always get outside, but can make it to the gym (RNJ North, BRC, etc) by 7:30.

Hopefully this list isn't too long or too hard to fulfill, especially since amendment 64 passed lol.

A homeowner AND a 4WD?! Does your 401K out-perform the Lipper average? Cognac or port for a digestif? ;)

Not a single one of my trusted, long term, consistent climbing partners satisifes all of your criteria.
Open your heart and mind.

May I ask what criteria exactly they don't meet? Sounds like you need to meet some better people. I've gotten a few emails already from like minded people. I'll respond later tonight!

I noticed you don't have the requirement to be an egotists? Is that because you have enough for the both of you? Is drinking tea on a patio in boulder a requirement? What if one enjoys espresso? You're a wanker.

If your looking to a partner try the partner formum, partner, instead of spraying how cool you are on the rocky mountain forum.

Hey thanks for posting! If I was so cool I would have took the guy up on his offer when he was trying to create a reality TV show about pyramids and shit haha. From your profile picture you're obviously way to bad ass for me though. Internet gangstaaaaaa from the county jail

Eyeroll....

Well, lemme see....

Some male, some female.
Mostly over 30 but under 25 isn't a problem.
None are beginners although, again, not a problem.
Some smoke, some do not. One smokes Marlboros like they are free and will leave you on an approach 9 times out of 10.
No psychosis or mental illness observed although I haven't asked for a psych screen.
Most do climb in the gym, although some do not under any circumstances.
Most have grown-up jobs, some do not. All contribute and are what I call 'good people'.
Some mug for the camera, some do not.
One only follows these days, the rest swing leads on most any terrain.

For the record, you and I are of a similar socio-econmic demographic. However, partners for multipitch and aid routes in my region are few and far between. Being partnerless in a partner rich environment might suggest that it's....well.....you and not them.

Are you mormon?

So they meet my criteria then. Smoking tobacco is no issue to me. Neither is pot really but my employer thinks otherwise so I'd rather stay away from it in a regular partner. I've climbed with a couple guys after smoking up and then watched them not finish there tie in knot, not pay attention while at the belay, etc. That's a whole different argument that I don't want to get into here though.

Also, I moved here 10 months ago and have been pretty focused with work, moving, moving again and buying a house, etc. Also from an area with almost no climbers (Chicago) and didn't have too much trouble finding what I was looking for there. Thanks for assuming negatively that it must be me though.

See now that will get you cut off my list of partners. My profile pic is of Tim Armstrong (titled hero), prolific front man for the band Rancid. Probably never heard of them since your such a good boy. Internet gangstaa? Seriously? Do you know what sarcasm is? Have you been to jail? If so, did they let you use the internet?

Dude that came before me said... "maybe you not them". Self reflection is often difficult for people who are not comfortable with their true self.

Ok....how about not you; your criteria.
In fact, no single one of these folks satisfy all of your criteria as an individual...and would, seemingly, be excluded.
That's all I was saying.
In any case, congratulations on the move and good luck finding the climbing partner of your dreams...if they exist.

My list is not made up in my head either, it's all negative shit I've encountered too.. for example.

The dude that wanted me to bang him (and his wife) who waited to tell me this until we were in the desert at red rocks, (no shit) who was also placing cams with the stem pointed up, got scared half way up frigid air buttress and froze up.

or the guy that was bipolar and all over the place between his highs and lows.

The guy that didn't wear deodorant and made my eyes water to be around at the belay.

The dude (recently here) that was trying to make a reality tv show about how the pyramids are all tied into an ancient electrical grid (think bear grylls on drugs)... I just want to climb LOL

There's obviously a group of people that I have climbed with and had a good time, some are not interested in trad though, or others have regular partners.

Whatever though, if you think that's egotistical then I guess I am? Just looking to have fun on the rock with some people that aren't weird.

Not big into Rancid although I have heard of them. Curious why you feel the need to portray the tough guy image though? If you check out the campfire music thread you'll see I like a lot of music that is more "hardcore" then rancid though also, just don't feel the need to display that as part of my internet persona

Thanks for getting it, I kind of had an idea that this was going to turn into this.. if anything it'll provide entertainment while I'm at work though (and for everyone else). Like I said a few people have emailed me that haven't posted (and I don't blame them for not, why get flamed).

Get those folks together...they'd have a ball!

I'm not sure why anyone has their panties in a bunch about this partner request. Seems pretty reasonable to me. He knows what he wants in a partner and what he doesn't. As for not being able to find a partner in a partner rich area...I've had more trouble finding reliable partners in partner rich areas like Boulder and LA than I ever have in the Southeast. Good luck finding a partner, I'd respond if I still lived in CO.

Holy Shit, Man! Some of these folks sound fun. Was dude's wife hot? He coulda just watched right? I'm really just busting your balls because your initial request was so public. If these things actually happen to you, maybe you should get to know a partner before commiting to anything that you cannot bail from quickly. I climb with strage people sometimes. If I'm not too sure of them, I don't go alone.

Edit to add: I changed my profile pic to better suite my true internet persona. Thanks for the advice, Nick.

Thanks man, I think there's a pretty large group of people here that like to turn anything into negativity. Angry individuals... I don't think I take anything on the internet that seriously.

I tried my best to screen him lol... he used to post on here. This was back in Chicago, climbed with him in the gym a few times. Married with kids, seemed very normal. His wife was very large and no I didn't want to bang her but he wanted me to specifically bang him. I slept with one eye open for the rest of the trip LOL

I'll climb with you, Nick.

I've got a basic trad rack, and I think we are pretty much at the same level difficulty-wise (you're probably a little stronger on trad as I mostly sport climb these days).

Generally, available tuesdays and wednesdays for gym or outdoor.
